A total of 409 trainees have completed marine engineering courses at INS Shivaji, the Indian Navy’s premier Marine Engineering training establishment. The graduates finished Agniveer Marine Engineering (ME) Course 60.958 and the Basic ME ‘Q’ Course for Friendly Foreign Navies.
Graduates from three maritime forces
The graduating group comprised 374 Indian Navy personnel, 31 from the Indian Coast Guard, two from the Sri Lankan Navy and two from the Maldives. Commodore S Parthiban, Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji, reviewed the Course Completion Parade and felicitated trainees for meritorious performance.
Training for shipboard engineering roles
The courses provide technical knowledge and practical skills for operating and maintaining critical engineering systems aboard naval vessels. The training also covers professional competence, discipline, teamwork, leadership and operational readiness for maritime operations.

The participation of Sri Lankan and Maldivian trainees reflects the role of the courses in maritime cooperation and capacity building with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region. The programmes also support professional ties and interoperability between maritime forces.

Building marine engineering capability
With 409 trainees completing the courses, INS Shivaji has added another graduating cohort to its continuing effort to develop skilled marine engineering personnel for modern naval operations. Its training combines technical preparation with character development and professional discipline.
