How I Cracked AFCAT In First Attempt

Being from a non defence background, I didn’t know anything about AFCAT in the starting but then also I thought of giving it a shot and wrote the AFCAT 2 2020 on 3rd October and cleared it in my very first attempt with a score of 169 marks.

I knew that AFCAT is easy to crack and also I was very busy with my job so I could prepare just for 7 days and today I will be sharing how I studied smartly and cleared it with a 7 day preparation.

So, firstly before starting the preparation, it was very crucial for me to know everything about the exam, so I took help from My Mentor and did thorough research on exam patterns, the whole syllabus, previous years’ papers and section-wise analysis.

Now, as there were 32 questions from Reasoning, 18 from Maths, 25 from English and 25 from GK/GS, we decided to make a study plan for those 7 days and start with allocating days for different sections as per my strengths and weaknesses.

Day 1 & 2

I was very strong in reasoning and numerical ability and could easily score 80% even without any preparation in those 2 sections but to cover that 20% we decided to give the first day to reasoning and the second day to numerical ability and in those 2 days I brushed up whole my concepts, worked upon the topics I had doubt on, solved previous years’ questions of those sections, practice some new questions and attempted one – one mock on both days and done the thorough analysis of those mocks to check where I am lacking.

Day 3 & 4

Then, the next two days were for English as I could score 50% easily in English but need to improve a lot in vocabulary. So, I gave one full day to vocabulary, do the written practice and try to cover some important words from A-Z. Then, the next day I worked on some other topics like spotting of errors, Idioms, and Phrases, etc., solved the previous years’ papers, attempted a mock, and done a thorough analysis of that mock.

Day 5, 6 & 7

Then, last three days were for GK as it had always been a challenge for me to study GK and I was not in a position of even attempting 5 correct questions from this section. Based upon the previous years’ analysis I knew that the most important part was Static GK and Current Affairs and it itself was huge and I can’t do wonders in just three days. So, I decided to cover as much as I can and working on some 4-5 most important topics like Capital & Currency, Games & Sports, Important Awards, and Important Days on 5th and 6th day of my preparation and the last i.e., 7th day was wholly dedicated for Current Affairs.

Hence, with this 7 day preparation and My Mentor’s guidance, motivation and regular checks on me, I cleared the AFCAT exam on the very first attempt.

So, if you are also an AFCAT aspirant and preparing for the upcoming AFCAT exam then I would suggest you first know your weaknesses and strengths, make a proper study plan, follow it with full determination, stay motivated, know that you can do it and then you will surely clear it with flying colours.

Also, you can easily target 200+ marks as you have got a lot of time to prepare for AFCAT 1 2021, so make the best use of it and fulfill your dream.
