92nd Anniversary Of Dandi March
- The Salt March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, Dandi March, and the Dandi Satyagraha, was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India led by Mahatma Gandhi.
- The twenty-four-day march lasted from 12 March 1930 to 6 April 1930 as a direct-action campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly.
- Another reason for this march was that the Civil Disobedience Movement needed a strong inauguration that would inspire more people to follow Gandhi’s example. Gandhi started this march with 78 of his trusted volunteers.
- The march spanned 239 miles (385 km), from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, which was called Navsari at that time (now in the state of Gujarat).
- Growing numbers of Indians joined them along the way. When Gandhi broke the British Raj salt laws at 8:30 am on 6 April 1930, it sparked large-scale acts of civil disobedience against the salt laws by millions of Indians.
Yoga Mahotsav-2022
- Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga under the Ministry of Ayush is organizing Yoga Mahotsav-2022 today.
- Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the event to commemorate 100 days countdown to the International Day of Yoga.
- The inaugural session will also be graced by Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Sikkim Chief Minister of Prem Singh Tamang among others.
- The basic objective of this event is to give a wider promotion and publicity to various dimensions of Yoga and its utility and also to promote the 100 days countdown campaign to International Day of Yoga.
India Water Pitch-Pilot-Scale Start-up Challenge
- Government will select hundred start-ups across the country to empower sustainable economic growth and generate employment opportunities in the water or used water sector.
- Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said this at the launch of ‘India Water Pitch-Pilot-Scale Start-up Challenge’ in New Delhi on Saturday. Mr. Puri also added that his ministry will select start-ups through this Start-up challenge and provide twenty lakh rupees to each start-up as funding support as well as mentorship.
- On the occasion, Mr. Puri emphasized on the important role being played by the Start-ups and assured them of full and active support from the Government. He said that the Start-ups are the flavor of the season, as the number of Unicorns in the country has jumped, by leaps and bounds.
- The minister said that AMRUT 2.0 is a transformative and unique scheme, with a huge outlay of over Rupees 2.77 lakh crore.
- He said that the scheme will ensure water security in the country, reduce its transportation costs, reduce groundwater contamination, and increase water utilization capacity.
- He said for the success of the Mission, Start-ups will have to play a meaningful role- by bringing in innovative ideas, Technology, novel delivery mechanisms, etc.
Manufacturing Of Flex-fuel Vehicles Within 6 Months
- Union minister Nitin Gadkari has said that automobile companies will start manufacturing flex-fuel vehicles within six months. At Global Business Summit, he said, most vehicles in India will soon run on 100 percent ethanol. Flex-fuel or flexible fuel is an alternative fuel with a combination of gasoline and methanol or ethanol.
- Government is enabling the use of various alternate fuels in an effort to shift from fossil fuels. Automobile and auto components of flex-fuel engines have been included in the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. NITI Aayog has formulated the roadmap for ethanol blending for the period 2020-2025 to accelerate the introduction of flex-fuel vehicles.
International Conference On Technical Textiles
- Minister of State of Textiles Darshana Jardosh has said, technical textiles has enormous scope to grow and capture the global market with the backing of National Technical Textiles Mission, Production Linked Incentive Scheme and PM MITRA schemes.
- The Ministry of Textiles in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industries organized an International Conference on Technical Textiles with the theme-Creating the Winning Leap in Technical Textiles.
- On this occasion, Highlighting the importance of technical textiles, Darshana Jardosh said, it is the right time to maximize investment, employment and women’s participation in the textile industry.
- Speaking during the event, Principal Scientific Advisor Professor K Vijay Raghavan highlighted the vital role of innovative solutions and research & development in driving the technical textiles market in India under its flagship programme National Technical Textiles Mission.
Hyderabad Arbitration Centre
- Chief Justice of India, N.V. Ramana has said Hyderabad Arbitration Centre should achieve worldwide acclaim like the one in Singapore. Justice Ramana has laid the foundation stone for the Arbitration center proposed to construct in 3.7 acres of land in Hyderabad.
- Speaking on the occasion, he said Hyderabad city will become more popular with the centre.
- He thanked the Telangana state government for allocating land in Gachibowli areas for the construction of building. He further said the international arbitration centre is already functional in Hyderabad.
- An international arbitration centre or IAC is where the corporate world goes to settle their squabbles. Or, in more formal terms, disputes arising out of commercial agreements in various sectors.
Zelenskyy & Putin To Hold Talks In Israel
- Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he is open for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Israel, but only if there is a cease-fire in place. Mr Zelenskyy said, he told Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett that he would be ready to meet Mr Putin in Jerusalem. The Israeli Prime Minister visited Moscow for a meeting with Mr Putin and spoke repeatedly with Mr Zelenskyy and the leaders of France and Germany as he sought to help mediate an end to the conflict.
- In a media briefing, Mr Zelenskyy said, the approach was in contrast to earlier talks at which Moscow only issued ultimatums. The Ukrainian President added that he is happy to have a signal from Russia after President Putin said he saw some positive shifts in their dialogue. Russian and Ukrainian negotiators have held several rounds of talks since Moscow’s military action in Ukraine.
