AFCAT 1 2023 Notification
- Indian citizens (men and women) are invited to join the Indian Air Force as Group A Gazetted Officers in the Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. The AFCAT 1 2023 online test will take place in February of that year.
- The official notice of AFCAT 1 2023 will be released by the Indian Air Force in December 2022. Registrations for the AFCAT 1 2023 will open in December 2022.
- Exams for the online AFCAT 1 2023 would possibly be given in the second week of February 2022. AFCAT 1 2023 Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality. The candidate must be a citizen of India as per the Indian citizenship act, 1955.
- For the courses starting in February 2024, online applications are being accepted for the award of Short Service Commissions (SSC) in the Flying Branch and Permanent Commissions (PC) and Short Service Commissions (SSC) in the Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches. For the NCC Special Entry Scheme (For flying branch) and for Meteorology Entry, online applications are also being accepted for the issuance of PC/SSC.
- Candidates should make sure they meet all requirements for admission to the exam before submitting an application. Their admittance at all examination stages, including the written exam and SSB test, will be solely provisional, pending their fulfillment of the necessary eligibility requirements. The IAF will revoke their candidacy if verification conducted at any point prior to or following the written exam or AFSB Testing reveals that they do not meet any of the eligibility requirements.
- The mere issuance of an admit card or call-up letter does not signify that the Indian Air Force has officially approved the candidate’s application.
- Only individuals who took their 12th-grade exams using the 10+2 format are eligible to apply for these courses.
- In the Ground Duty (Non-Tech) branches, there are two seats earmarked for candidates who have a law degree; these candidates may be hired to perform legal tasks for the IAF (after commissioning).
AFCAT 1 2023 Application Form
- IAF applicants must submit their applications online for AFCAT 1 2023 exam at https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in. The requirement for online registration is an Aadhaar Card.
- Once the formal notification of AFCAT 1 2023 is released, specific instructions for completing the online application form will be made available.

AFCAT 1 2023 Application Fee
- The fee for the AFCAT 1 2023 Entry Exam. After filling out the online application form, the Rs. 250/- (non-refundable) exam fee for AFCAT entry (not applicable for NCC special entry and meteorology entry) can be paid online through the “Make Payment” step on the main menu of the online application. There will be no way to pay the exam fee with cash, a check, or a demand draught (DD). Through the payment gateway, you can pay the exam fee with a credit card, a debit card, or your bank account. Applicants are told to follow the steps or instructions on the payment gateway and to print or save the details of the transaction for their own records. After the bank confirms that the payment has been received, the “Payment Status” will show the “Registration Number,” which the candidate can write down for future communication. At the same time, the candidate will get a confirmation e-mail or text message. This will be followed by the admit card with the hall ticket number, which will be sent to the candidate’s registered email address and can also be downloaded from the candidate’s registered email address.

AFCAT 1 2023 Age Limits
(a) Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of 01 Jan 2024 i.e. born between 02 Jan 2000 to 01 Jan 2004 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 Jan 1998 to 01 Jan 2004 (both dates inclusive).
(b) Ground Duty Technical Branch: 20 to 26 years as of 01 Jan 2024 i.e. born between 02 Jan 1998 to 02 Jan 2004 both dates Inclusive).

AFCAT 1 2023 Education Qualification
Flying Educational Qualification:
- Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and (aa) Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
- (ab) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
- (ac) Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
Ground Duty Technical Educational Qualification:
- (aa) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}. Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines
- (ab) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}. Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

(aad) B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.
- (ad) Education. Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.
- (ae) Meteorology. Passed 10+2 and B Sc with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or four year Graduation in Engineering/Technology discipline

- Only those candidates who have given 12th standard in 10+2 pattern of examination are eligible to apply for these courses.

AFCAT 1 2023 Selection Procedure
- AFCAT 1 2023 Online Test: The AFCAT online test will be given all over India at different test centres by the Indian air force. Around February 2023, the AFCAT 1 2023 online test will be given.
- AFCAT 1 2023 Result: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will release the results of AFCAT 1 2023 in March 2023. Candidates can check their marks, cut-off marks, and other information on the official website, afcat.cdac.in.
- AFCAT 1 2023 AFSB Dates Selection: Dates for AFSB interviews have to be chosen on the same website by those who have been chosen for an interview.
- AFSB interview Stage 1: The first step of the AFSB interview is the screening test, which includes both verbal and nonverbal tests as well as a PPDT test. Those who are chosen will stay at the centres for more tests, while those who don’t make the cut will be let go on the same day.
- AFSB interview Stage 2: The next step is a personal interview, followed by tests in psychology, GTO, and PABT (only for flying). On the last day, there will be a conference, and then the final result will be given. The chosen candidates are sent to a doctor for a checkup.

(a) English. Comprehension, Detect Error in Sentence, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonym/ Antonym, Cloze Test or Fill in the Gaps in a paragraph, Idioms and Phrases, Analogy, Sentence Rearranging, Substitution in a Sentence/ One Word Substitution.
(b) General Awareness. History, Geography, Sports, National & International Organisations, Art & Culture, Personalities, Environment & Ecology, Indian Polity, Economy, Basic Science Based Knowledge, Science & Technology, Current Affairs (National & International), Defence.

AFCAT 1 2023 Marking Scheme
- Three marks will be awarded for every correct answer.
- One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
- No marks for unattempted questions.
- Questions will be based on the metric system of Weights & Measures wherever applicable. Candidates must appear for the Online AFCAT in person. Under no circumstance will any scribe or another candidate be allowed to appear/ assist in the exam. Air Force has the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination.
AFCAT 1 2023 Admit Card
AFCAT 1 2023 Admit Card will be realeased 2 weeks before actual exam date, and Instructions for e-Admit Card and AFCAT 1 2023 Written Examination are mentioned below:
- The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the date of the examination. The e-Admit Card will be sent to the registered email IDs and will also be available at the website www.careerindianairforce.cdac.in for all candidates who successfully submitted their online application. No Admit Card will be sent by post. To download the e-Admit Card, a candidate should have his/her Username and Password. The candidate will be solely responsible for downloading his/ her e-Admit Card.
- If the candidate does not receive his/her admit card in their registered email id or is not able to download the same from the mentioned website or if there is any error/discrepancy/anomaly in the e-admit card, he/she must inquire from AFCAT Query Cell at C-DAC, Pune immediately. (Phone Nos. 020-25503105 or 020-25503106). E-Mail queries may be addressed to [email protected] . No candidate will be allowed to appear in the examination unless he/ she holds a downloaded e-Admit Card for the examination.
- The courses to which the candidates are admitted will be according to their eligibility as per age and educational qualifications and the course preferences given by them. The candidates should note that their admission to the examination will be purely provisional, based on the information given by them in the Application Form. On verification, in case the IAF finds that the information disclosed by the candidate is not correct or is false, his or her candidature will be treated as canceled.
- Candidates are to ensure that the personal information on the front side of the e-Admit card is as per the details provided by them during the registration process. They are also advised to read the instructions given at the rear of the e-Admit card beforehand.
- The decision of the IAF shall be final with regard to the acceptance of a candidate’s application, based on the given information.

- The AFCAT 1 2023 results will be out in the month of March 2023. Registration for the AFSB interview dates will open for the selection of AFSB venues & dates on the first come first basis rest of the candidates who did select the system will automatically allocate randomly. Successful candidates can choose the appropriate AFSB date and location from the official website

AFCAT 1 2023 Salary Structure
AFCAT Salary:
1. Cadets in the final year of training will be given a stipend of Rs. 56,100.
2. After successful completion of training, level 10 in the Pay Matrix of the seventh Central Pay Commission will be allotted to the young Air Officers [56100-1,10,700]
3. Military Service Pay- 15,500 will also be included.
Additional Allowances
1. Flying Branch: Rs 11250 per month.
2. Technical Branch Officers: Rs 2500 per month.
In Addition to these officers are also entitled to other allowances such as TA, DA, Children Education Allowance, Ration Money Allowance etc.
AFCAT Roles:

AFCAT Flying Branch Job Profile
- Operate and look after fighter planes with combat.
- Transportation of material and ammunition tasks
- Air support and supplies.
- Helicopters are in service for casual and emergencies.
AFCAT Ground Duty Technical Job Profile
- Maintenance of all technical tools and equipment of aircraft.
- Responsibility for managing the technicians who are already qualified.
- Checking technicians are being provided with the required equipment and tools for the job consisting of RADAR, Aircraft, etc.
- Must perform aeronautical engineering, weapons, communication systems, avionics, etc.
- Handling of the aircraft service, technical processes, and management

AFCAT 1 2023 AFSB/SSB Interview Centers
Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) for AFCAT 1 2023 Exam
- For AFCAT entry, IAF shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Online AFCAT as fixed by the IAF at their discretion. Candidates who are declared successful in the Online AFCAT will be called to one of the Air Force Selection Boards. Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centers.
- The AFSB centres are at Dehradun (1 AFSB), Mysuru (2AFSB), Gandhinagar (3 AFSB), Varanasi (4 AFSB), and Guwahati (5 AFSB).
- Candidates who opt for the flying branches can only opt for Dehradun, Mysore, and Varanasi.
- Candidates who have qualified in the written exam are required to choose AFSB date and venue by themselves on the website https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in in order to generate a call-up letter for an AFSB interview
