On Independence Day, two female officers, Major Nikita Nair and Major Jasmine Kaur, will accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi in raising the National Flag at Red Fort. The valiant gunners of the elite 8711 Field Battery (Ceremonial) will link it with the 21 Gun Salute, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on Sunday.

Major Nikita Nair and Major Jasmine Kaur, two female officers, will accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi in raising the National Flag at Red Fort on Independence Day. The elite 8711 Field Battery (Ceremonial) gunners will link it with the 21 Gun Salute, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated on Sunday.

On D-Day, as soon as the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag, two Indian Air Force Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv in Line Astern Formation will shower flower petals on the venue. The Guard of Honour contingent for the Prime Minister will include one officer and 25 people from the Army, Air Force, and Delhi Police, as well as one officer and 24 soldiers from the Navy, according to the ministry.

“After inspecting the Guard of Honour, the Prime Minister will proceed to the ramparts of the Red Fort, where he will be greeted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the commanders of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.” Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the GoC for the Delhi area, will accompany the Prime Minister to the dais on the ramparts to unfurl the National Flag,” MoD officials stated.

The Tricolour will be unfurled, followed by a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ to the Prime Minister. During the unfurling of the National Flag and presentation of the ‘Rashtriya Salute,’ the Army band, comprised of one JCO and 20 Other Ranks, will perform the National Anthem. Naib Subedar Jatinder Singh will lead the band.

The National Flag Guard, comprised of five officers and 128 other ranks from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police, will deliver the Rashtriya Salute at the Prime Minister’s unfurling of the National Flag. Major Abhinav Detha of the Army would lead the Inter-Services Guard and Police Guard, according to the government.

“The Prime Minister will address the nation following the showering of flower petals.” The National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets will sing the National Anthem after the Prime Minister’s speech. One thousand one hundred boys and girls NCC cadets (Army, Navy, and Air Force) from various schools around the country will participate in this National Fervour Festival. “Bleachers have been installed at the Gyanpath, where the cadets will be seated in the official white dress,” stated the official.
