President Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, will review the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the National Defence Academy’s (NDA) 145th course in Pune on November 30. This event coincides with the NDA’s 75th foundation anniversary in January. The parade, a highlight in India’s military calendar, concludes three years of rigorous training at the NDA.
The President’s role includes inspecting the cadet lineup, delivering an address, and awarding medals to outstanding cadets. This year’s parade is noteworthy for the inclusion of the first batch of female cadets, reflecting the academy’s commitment to gender-neutral training.
Graduates from the NDA proceed to further training at their respective service academies: the Indian Naval Academy, the Indian Military Academy, or the Air Force Academy. The event, significant in military traditions, will be attended by all three military service chiefs, who are alumni of the academy.
The NDA, located in Pune, is a renowned institution for military leadership in India, and its latest batch includes 19 women, a milestone in the academy’s history.
