Advance Air Defence Course Commences at Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur

The Advance Air Defence Course has officially commenced at the Army Air Defence College (AADC) in Gopalpur, marking a significant development in enhancing India’s air defence capabilities. Launched on 12 November 2025, this 13-week intensive programme aims to provide participants with advanced tactical and technical expertise necessary for the operation of complex Air Defence (AD) radars, guns, and sophisticated missile systems. The course is designed to ensure the safeguarding of Indian airspace with unparalleled precision.

Empowering the next generation of air defence professionals, the course gathers 25 Indian Army officers alongside two officers from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), specifically one each from Namibia and Nepal. The comprehensive curriculum features a mix of classroom instruction, simulation-based training, and rigorous field exercises. This well-rounded approach seeks to enhance participants’ capabilities in detecting, tracking, and neutralizing aerial threats in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving battlespace.

A key focus of the programme is the tactical application of modern air defence weapon systems. Participants will be trained in the use of next-generation radar technologies, surface-to-air missile systems, and automated command and control networks. This emphasis on integrating technology with tactical mastery reflects the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to technological innovation, interoperability, and strengthening regional defence cooperation.

The inclusion of foreign officers from Namibia and Nepal highlights India’s dedication to fostering defence collaboration and knowledge exchange with friendly nations. Such initiatives aim to build stronger partnerships and promote mutual growth in military training and capability development, enhancing collective security in the region.

As a premier institution under the Corps of Army Air Defence, AADC in Gopalpur plays a crucial role in shaping future-ready air defence leaders who possess both technical proficiency and operational foresight. The launch of this course serves as a testament to India’s determination to maintain a vigilant and technologically advanced shield over its skies, ensuring the protection of its airspace against emerging threats.
