The Advanced Gunnery Course at the School of Artillery concluded on May 14, 2026, marking a significant milestone in artillery training with the successful participation of officers from the Indian Army, international partners, and the Border Security Force.

Spanning 17 weeks, the course was meticulously crafted to enhance the participants’ expertise in advanced artillery techniques and firepower management. These skills are critical for effective performance as Battery Commanders during operational deployments, underscoring the commitment to operational readiness and tactical proficiency.

In addition to the Indian Army’s own officers, the course included seven participants from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Malawi, along with one officer from the Border Security Force. This diverse representation not only reflects the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen military ties but also highlights the importance of professional exchanges among nations, fostering a spirit of cooperation in defense matters.

The valedictory ceremony saw the Commandant of the School of Artillery, Lieutenant General NS Sarna, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, recognizing the exemplary performances of the participants. Captain Parul Yadav distinguished herself by being awarded First in the Order of Merit, acknowledging her exceptional overall performance throughout the course.

Moreover, Major MASS Abeyrathne from the Sri Lanka Army was honored as the Best Student among the officers from friendly foreign countries, demonstrating the high level of competence and knowledge that the course sought to impart.

The culmination of this course further signals the Indian Army’s dedication to advanced artillery training and operational excellence, while also fostering stronger defense partnerships with allied nations. Such programs are vital in preparing military leaders for the complexities of modern warfare and enhancing collaborative efforts in regional security initiatives.
