AeroVironment has introduced the latest innovations in its renowned Switchblade loitering munitions, expanding its offerings with three new variants aimed at enhancing capabilities in multi-domain operations and broadening their effectiveness against armored targets.
The standout in this new lineup is the Switchblade 600 Block 2, which boasts advanced avionics and is specifically designed for prolonged engagements on the battlefield. One of its key features is the incorporation of artificial intelligence that allows the system to automatically identify targets. This capability is complemented by an encrypted navigation signal, ensuring reliable communication and connectivity even in environments that are contested or experiencing electronic jamming.
The Switchblade 600 Block 2 also exhibits improved loitering capabilities compared to its predecessors, enabling it to remain on station for extended periods. It can facilitate operator handoff and control over distances reaching up to 100 kilometers (approximately 62 miles), which is a substantial operational range. Moreover, this advanced platform can serve as a communications relay, thereby enhancing coordinated command and control among various units in the field.
