(a) Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of 01 Jan 2025 i.e. born between 02 Jan 2001 to 01 Jan 2005 (both dates inclusive). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 Jan 1998 to 01 Jan 2004 (both dates inclusive).

AFCAT 1 2024 Age Limits

(a) Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of 01 July 2025 i.e. born between 02 July 2001 to 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive). AFCAT 2024 Education Qualification

Flying Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and (aa) Graduation with a minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
  • (ab) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
  • (ac) Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Ground Duty Technical Educational Qualification:

  • (aa) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}. Candidates with a minimum of 50% mark each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from a recognized University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines
  • (ab) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}. Candidates with a minimum of 50% mark each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from a recognized University OR cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

Ground Duty Non-Technical Educational Qualification:

  • (aa) Weapon Systems (WS) Branch. Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and (aaa) Graduation with a minimum of three years of degree courses in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR (aab) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • (ab) Administration & Logistics. Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • (ac) Accounts Branch. Passed 10+2 and done graduation in any of the following streams with 60 % marks or equivalent from a recognized university:- (aaa) B. Com Degree (Min three years course). (aab) Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance) (aac) Qualified CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA. (aad) B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.
  • (ad) Education. Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.
  • (ae) Meteorology. Passed 10+2 and B Sc with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or four-year Graduation in Engineering/Technology discipline

NOTE:

  • Only those candidates who have given 12th standard in the 10+2 pattern of examination are eligible to apply for these courses.
  • One seat is reserved for Law qualified candidates in Ground duty (Non-Tech) branches and these candidates may get employed on legal duties of the IAF (after commissioning).

Ground Duty TechnicalThe candidate must have a B.Tech/ B.E degree in notified streams as mentioned in the official notification of the IAF with a minimum of 60% marks and have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Physics and Maths in 10+2 standard to be eligible for technical entry.
Ground Duty Non-Technical1. Weapon Systems (WS) – Graduation degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
Administration and Logistics – Graduation degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
2. Accounts – B.Com Degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
3. Education – Postgraduate degree (MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International Studies / Defence Studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT /Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation) with minimum 50% marks, along with minimum 60% marks in graduation.
4. Meteorology – B Sc with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or four-year Graduation in Engineering/Technology discipline

AFCAT 2024 Selection Procedure

  • AFCAT 1 2024 Online Test: The AFCAT online test will be given all over India at different test centres by the Indian air force. Around February 2024, the AFCAT 1 2024 online test will be given.
  • AFCAT 1 2024 Result: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will release the results of AFCAT 1 2024 in March 2024. Candidates can check their marks, cut-off marks, and other information on the official website, afcat.cdac.in.
  • AFCAT 1 2024 AFSB Dates Selection: Dates for AFSB interviews have to be chosen on the same website by those who have been chosen for an interview.
  • AFSB interview Stage 1: The first step of the AFSB interview is the screening test, which includes both verbal and nonverbal tests as well as a PPDT test. Those who are chosen will stay at the centres for more tests, while those who don’t make the cut will be let go on the same day.
  • AFSB interview Stage 2: The next step is a personal interview, followed by tests in psychology, GTO, and PABT (only for flying). On the last day, there will be a conference, and then the final result will be given. The chosen candidates are sent to a doctor for a checkup.

AFCAT 2024 Exam Syllabus

(a) English. Comprehension, Detecting Errors in Sentences, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct words, Synonym/ Antonym, Cloze Test or Fill in the Gaps in a paragraph, Idioms and Phrases, Analogy, Sentence Rearranging, Substitution in a Sentence/ One Word Substitution.

(b) General Awareness. History, Geography, Sports, National & International Organisations, Art & Culture, Personalities, Environment & Ecology, Indian Polity, Economy, Basic Science Based Knowledge, Science & Technology, Current Affairs (National & International), Defence.

(c) Numerical Ability. Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average/ Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Time & Distance and Races (Trains/ Boats & Streams), Area and Perimeter, Probability, Number System & Number Series, Mixture & Allegation Rules, Clocks.

(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning

Standard Of Questions. The standard of Numerical Ability Questions will be of Matriculation level. The standard of questions in other subjects will be of graduation level (Indian University).
