The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) recently marked a significant achievement during the ceremonial parade for the Medical Officers Basic Course (MOBC-253), held at the AMC Centre & College in Lucknow. A total of 121 young medical and dental officers, including 32 women, officially concluded their training, now poised to contribute to both military endeavors and humanitarian efforts across various landscapes.

The parade was presided over by Lt Gen Shivinder Singh, AVSM, the Commandant of AMC Centre & College. He commended the graduates for their unwavering dedication and urged them to embody the values of compassion, humility, and professionalism throughout their service careers. Drawing from his extensive experience of 37 years, particularly his expertise in cardiac anaesthesia and critical care, Lt Gen Singh motivated the new officers, sharing insights from his tenure as MG Med at Headquarters Northern Command.

A standout moment during the event was the recognition of Major Aishwainee VG from CH (NC), who was honored as the Best All-Round Officer of the course. This award highlights the growing influence and achievements of women in the Armed Forces, reflecting the Ministry of Defence’s progressive data indicating an increase in female representation among officer ranks—from 3% in 2010 to an impressive 9.3% in 2023.
