Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, currently serving as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS), concluded a three-day visit to Air Force Station Lohegaon in Pune, aimed at assessing the station’s operational preparedness and ongoing capability enhancement initiatives. The visit took place from May 31 to June 2, 2026.
During his time at the station, Air Marshal Bharti received comprehensive briefings on various critical projects designed to enhance the combat capabilities of the Indian Air Force. This included updates on new weapon integration programs, operational trials, and a variety of indigenisation projects that are instrumental in bolstering the IAF’s operational efficacy.
A standout moment of the visit was Air Marshal Bharti’s sortie aboard a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft. This experience allowed him to evaluate the operational functionality of the aircraft firsthand, as well as receive in-depth updates regarding ongoing enhancements aimed at increasing its effectiveness.
Additionally, Bharti took the opportunity to review various efforts focused on the integration of advanced weapon systems and indigenous technologies within the IAF’s frontline combat units. This initiative underscores the Indian Air Force’s commitment to self-reliance and operational modernisation, reflecting a strategic focus on harnessing homegrown technologies.
