During a recent visit to two forward air bases in the western sector, Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Western Air Command, conducted a thorough review of the operational preparedness of the Indian Air Force. This visit underscored the strategic importance of maintaining a high state of readiness in the region.
In a notable demonstration of leadership, Air Marshal Mishra undertook an operational mission aboard a Su-30 MKI, the nation’s premier multi-role air dominance fighter. This sortie showcased not only the combat readiness and agility of the aircraft but also highlighted the mission capabilities of the Su-30 MKI units stationed along the western front, ensuring they remain prepared to address any emerging challenges.
As part of his visit, the Air Marshal inaugurated a newly established memorial honoring Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only Param Vir Chakra awardee in the Indian Air Force. This memorial pays tribute to his extraordinary bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, serving as a continual source of inspiration for current and future air warriors.
During interactions with personnel at the air bases, Air Marshal Mishra expressed his admiration for their professionalism and unwavering commitment to duty.
