Amit Shah Addresses Future Leaders at National Defence Academy, Emphasizing Patriotism and Gender Inclusion

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the National Defence Academy (NDA) today, delivering an impactful address aimed at inspiring future leaders of India’s armed forces. The visit highlighted a blend of ceremonial traditions and high-level interactions, reinforcing the themes of national service and resilience.

In his speech at the NDA, Shah underscored the crucial role that cadets play in safeguarding India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He commended their unwavering commitment, discipline, and patriotism, urging them to embody values of courage, unity, and selfless service as they prepare to serve the nation.

A noteworthy element of the event was the ceremonial presentation of a commemorative plaque to Shah by senior military officials, symbolizing the enduring collaboration between India’s civilian leadership and its defense establishment. This gesture represents the solid foundation upon which military and civilian sectors continue to build a secure and strong nation.

Shah’s visit occurred at a significant time for the academy, coming on the heels of the graduation of the first batch of 17 female cadets during the 148th passing-out parade on May 29, 2025. This milestone signifies a pivotal transformation in the NDA’s history, aligning with ongoing efforts to enhance gender inclusion and modernization within the Indian Armed Forces.

Established on December 7, 1954, the NDA stands as the world’s first tri-service military academy, rigorously training cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. With 18 squadrons and a continually increasing intake of cadets, the academy has evolved into a vital institution for nurturing military leadership.

During his address, Shah referred to the recent Operation Sindoor, describing it as a “finest example” of India’s military resolve. While operational specifics remain classified, he praised the mission as a demonstration of the nation’s defense readiness and advanced technological capabilities.

Vice-Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Commandant of the NDA, echoed Shah’s sentiments, underlining the steadfast dedication of the cadets and the academy’s mission to instill values that extend beyond the battlefield.
