Army jawan Sachin Yadavrao Vananje, a dedicated 29-year-old from Tamlur village in Degloor taluka of Nanded district, was tragically martyred in Jammu and Kashmir on May 6. The incident occurred when the military truck he was driving plunged into a deep valley near Ramban. Sachin had been serving with the 6th Battalion of the Mahar Regiment for the past three years and was responsible for transporting fellow soldiers for a war-related deployment when he lost control of the vehicle on the challenging mountainous terrain. This unfortunate accident resulted in the loss of four soldiers, including Sachin.
His untimely death has deeply affected residents of both Maharashtra and Telangana, prompting widespread mourning in his native region against the backdrop of continuing tensions along the India-Pakistan border. Following the incident, Sachin’s body was transported to the 66 Base Hospital in Srinagar for a post-mortem examination before being flown back to Nanded, where his final rites were conducted with full military honors in Degloor town. The ceremony was attended by various elected representatives, district officials, and hundreds of community members, all coming together to pay their respects. Arrangements for the funeral were overseen by Nanded’s soldier welfare officer, Capt. Vittal Kadam, and Degloor deputy collector Anup Patil.
Survived by his wife Madhura, their eight-month-old daughter, his parents, and two brothers, Sachin had been married for just a year and a half. His father, Yadavrao Shivram Vananje, works as a private driver, and the family resides in Jia Colony in Degloor town. The news of Sachin’s martyrdom has cast a shadow over Tamlur, Degloor, and the nearby area of Madnoor, with locals expressing their sorrow and honoring his sacrifice for the nation. This solemn moment reflects a heightened sense of patriotism and collective grief in the community as the country grapples with an increasingly volatile security situation.
