The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), has successfully finalized the selection process for the fourth batch of its residential coaching initiative at the Chieswema Garrison in Nagaland. Following a rigorous and transparent merit-based evaluation, 35 candidates were selected from an applicant pool of 152 students across the state for the 2025–26 session.
This initiative, launched in 2022, is a comprehensive, year-long coaching and mentorship program designed to prepare underprivileged students for competitive examinations such as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The program takes place at the Late Capt N Kengurüse, Mahavir Chakra Centre of Excellence and Wellness in Chieswema, which is named in honor of the fallen Kargil War hero from Nagaland, Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse.
The educational collaboration is made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2022, involving Assam Rifles, Axis Bank, and NIEDO. Under this partnership, Axis Bank provides essential financial support, while NIEDO contributes expert faculty and a structured curriculum. The Assam Rifles facilitates the smooth operation of the program by offering necessary logistical and infrastructural support.
This coaching initiative has emerged as a crucial lifeline for youth in remote regions of Nagaland, tackling educational disparities and presenting a transformative avenue for students who have limited access to quality education. Since its inception, the program has empowered numerous students and helped them move closer to their academic and professional aspirations.
By integrating public service, corporate sponsorship, and educational expertise, the Assam Rifles’ partnership with NIEDO exemplifies a commitment to enhancing national unity and fostering a brighter future for young minds in the Northeast. The initiative continues to play a pivotal role in creating opportunities for youth, thereby contributing to the developmental narrative of the region.
