AWWA Leaders Visit Jalandhar Military Hospital to Enhance Support for Military Families

Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), accompanied by Mrs. Shuchi Katiyar, the Regional President of AWWA (Western Command), undertook a significant visit to the Early Intervention Centre (EIC) and Palliative Care Centre (PCC) at Military Hospital (MH) Jalandhar on April 12, 2025. This visit underscored AWWA’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare of military families, particularly through access to specialized healthcare and developmental services.

During their time at the centers, Mrs. Dwivedi and Mrs. Katiyar engaged directly with the staff, children, and caregivers, offering support and encouragement. At the EIC, which specializes in early childhood development for children with special needs, the visitors interacted with young children and their families. They expressed appreciation for the dedication displayed by the staff in nurturing the growth and development of these children, who face unique challenges.

The team then moved to the Palliative Care Centre, a vital 10-bedded facility that has been operational since April 8, 2019, under the Vajra Corps. The center is dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients, and Mrs. Dwivedi took the opportunity to commend the staff and caregivers for their extraordinary efforts in delivering such sensitive and essential services.

Highlighting the importance of the work being done at these centers, Mrs. Dwivedi noted the critical role that AWWA plays in supporting the families of Army personnel. She echoed a sentiment she previously articulated during an International Women’s Day event in Udhampur, stating, “The real strength of a soldier’s will to fight is not because of what is in front of him, but what is behind him.” This statement resonates with AWWA’s mission to provide a strong support system for military families through such initiatives.

The visit was also marked by interactions with military personnel and the distribution of gifts to children, further emphasizing the collaborative efforts of AWWA leadership to improve welfare services at important military locations like Jalandhar, a significant center under the Western Command.

As the AWWA continues its essential work, it remains a crucial lifeline for the spouses, children, and dependents of Army personnel, ensuring that they receive the care, resources, and support necessary to lead fulfilling lives amidst the challenges they face.
