Belrise Industries Partners with Plasan to Manufacture Electric Vehicle Components for Indian Military

Pune-based Belrise Industries has entered a strategic partnership with Israel’s Plasan Sasa, aiming to enhance the manufacturing of autonomous electric vehicle components in India. This collaboration is particularly focused on adapting Plasan’s All-Terrain Electric Mission Module (ATEMM) for the Indian military.

The ATEMM is a versatile 2×2 electric-powered unmanned ground vehicle designed to boost payload capacity, onboard energy availability, survivability, and mobility across various terrains. With a compact 2-meter (7-foot) design, it can operate as a standalone unit or as a trailer attachment, providing up to 50 kilowatts per hour of power to support other vehicles or equipment.

In addition to its standalone capabilities, the ATEMM can be linked to a second module to create a full 4×4 or 8×8 vehicle configuration. This full-electric drive system possesses an impressive output of 800 horsepower and boasts a payload capacity exceeding 2,000 kilograms (approximately 4,409 pounds).

Swastid Badve, chief of staff at Belrise Industries, emphasized the significance of this partnership. He stated that this agreement marks a crucial turning point in their mission to introduce world-class defense technologies to India. Badve expressed confidence that combining Belrise’s manufacturing strengths with Plasan’s innovative designs will cater to the evolving requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.

This collaboration is part of a broader effort established in late December that seeks to bolster manufacturing and industrial expertise in India. As per this agreement, Plasan is set to lend its expertise in armor technology, survivability, and advanced automotive defense systems. The partnership aims to facilitate technology transfer and promote localized production under the Indian government’s defense industrial initiative.

Belrise is recognized for its specialization in chassis parts, suspension systems, and other automotive components, catering to two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial platforms. Conversely, Plasan is known for providing vehicle protection technologies and survivability solutions that are utilized by military forces globally.

Gilad Ariav, Plasan’s vice president for marketing and business development, stated that this cooperation would effectively meet India’s defense requirements while simultaneously enhancing Plasan’s global supply chain through cost-effective production in India. This partnership is poised to play a significant role in the future of India’s defense manufacturing landscape.
