Bomb Threat Mock Exercise

A Bomb-Threat Mock Exercise (BTME) was held at Surat Airport, aimed at assessing the readiness and coordination among various agencies in light of potential bomb threats. The exercise underscored the importance of collaborative emergency response mechanisms to ensure the safety of passengers and airport operations.

The event saw a robust turnout of 174 personnel from a range of key organizations, including the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Surat City Police, District Administration, IndiGo Airlines, Customs, Bureau of Immigration, along with local fire, medical, and Bomb Disposal and Detection Squads (BDDS).

Supervised by airport authorities and the CISF, the mock drill rigorously tested emergency response protocols, communication frameworks, and inter-agency coordination. Various threat scenarios were simulated to evaluate the readiness of all involved personnel to handle emergencies effectively while maintaining the safety of travelers.

Officials emphasized that such exercises play a critical role in enhancing preparedness and improving response times. They expressed the necessity for seamless teamwork among security, administrative, and operational teams during actual emergencies.

The successful execution of the BTME at Surat Airport reaffirms the dedication of all stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of safety and security for air travelers, thereby fostering public confidence in the aviation system.
