Officials have confirmed that the injured soldiers are currently being evacuated and provided with necessary medical attention. The Army’s Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps reported the incident on social media platform X, stating, “A boulder from a cliff fell on one of the vehicles of a military convoy in Ladakh, around 1130h. Recovery action is in progress.”
The location of the accident is part of a high-altitude region in Ladakh, characterized by its rugged landscape and a history of frequent landslides, which contributed to the unexpected nature of the rockfall. The damaged vehicle was part of a routine convoy movement when the rockfall suddenly struck.
