In a tragic incident in eastern Ladakh, a boulder fell onto an Army convoy, resulting in the loss of two soldiers’ lives and injuries to three others. The accident took place around 11:30 AM while the military convoy was traveling from Durbuk to Chongtash.
Officials reported that a massive boulder detached from a nearby cliff and struck one of the vehicles in the convoy. The fallen soldiers have been identified as Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh. Additionally, Major Mayank Shubham, Major Amit Dixit, and Captain Gaurav sustained injuries and have been evacuated to an Army hospital in Leh for medical treatment.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Fire and Fury Corps, along with fellow ranks, expressed their heartfelt condolences and saluted the bravery of Lieutenant Colonel Singh and Lance Dafadar Singh for their ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation.
In the wake of this incident, the Indian Army has launched a rescue and recovery operation at the site, navigating the area’s notoriously dangerous terrain. Rockfalls are a known hazard in the region, particularly during this season, and the military maintains a vigilant approach during troop movements.
