In a heartbreaking turn of events at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, an 18-year-old cadet, Aditya D Yadav, tragically lost his life during a supervised swimming practice session on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. during an organized training exercise for those considered weak swimmers, under the close supervision of academy instructors.
During the session, while attempting to swim across the width of the pool, Cadet Yadav was unexpectedly found motionless on the water’s surface. The swift response of two on-site lifeguards, who immediately jumped in to retrieve him, could not change the outcome. Despite their rapid efforts, which included performing CPR and administering on-site medical assistance, the young cadet was later transported to the Military Hospital in Khadakwasla. Unfortunately, all revival efforts were futile, and he was pronounced dead.
The NDA authorities have conveyed their profound sorrow over the incident, expressing heartfelt condolences to Yadav’s family. They have confirmed that both the next of kin of the cadet and local civil police have been notified of the tragic news. In light of the incident, a formal inquiry has been initiated to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding Yadav’s untimely death, aiming to determine the exact cause of this unfortunate accident.
