A group of 73 cadets from the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla engaged in an informative and enriching visit to the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belgaum from March 16 to 22, 2026. This excursion allowed the cadets to immerse themselves in the regimental legacy and training environment of one of the Indian Army’s most esteemed infantry regiments.
During their time at MLIRC, the cadets gained valuable insights into the Maratha Light Infantry’s rich heritage, traditions, and operational ethos. The visit aimed to deepen their understanding of the regiment’s esteemed history and its significant role within the larger framework of the Indian Army.
The program included meaningful interactions between the cadets and the Commandant of MLIRC, providing the future leaders with an opportunity to discuss various facets of military life and training. Cadets also toured significant establishments within the center, including the Commando Wing and the Rashtriya Military School (RMS) in Belgaum. Such experiences were designed to enhance their knowledge of military training systems and provide firsthand exposure to the complexities of military operations and education.
In addition to the formal learning experiences, the cadets partook in an exhilarating white-water rafting expedition on the Kali River at Dandeli. This activity not only served as an adventure-filled outing but also fostered teamwork and camaraderie among the participants, reinforcing the essential qualities of leadership and cooperation.
