Canada’s Department of Defence has officially entered into a contract with Indra to supply approximately 600 advanced radios specifically designed for air traffic management. This agreement, which is valued at over 13 million euros (approximately $13.5 million), aims to replace the existing communication equipment used by the government agency. The new systems will utilize Indra’s Park Air T6 voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) solutions, enhancing ground-to-air communication capabilities.
The partnership includes the deployment of M7 radios, which are engineered to establish secure connections on frequencies utilized by NATO members and various defense organizations. These state-of-the-art devices will be manufactured at Indra’s Park Air facility located in the UK.
To ensure effective support and integration within Canada, Indra plans to assemble a dedicated in-country support team to facilitate close and efficient project execution. This strategic move is expected to enhance operational effectiveness and responsiveness.
Indra highlights that the newly introduced radios will enable the Canadian Department of Defence to optimize communications between defense pilots and ground personnel, particularly in complex and demanding air traffic scenarios. A key design feature of these solutions is their compact and efficient architecture, which reduces energy consumption and minimizes environmental impact.
Victor MartÃnez GarcÃa, General Manager of Indra Air Traffic Management, commented on the significance of securing this contract. He noted that it not only reinforces Indra’s role as a strategic partner to NATO countries but also solidifies its position as a leader in innovative and secure technological solutions on the global stage. GarcÃa emphasized that this project marks a substantial advancement in the air traffic sector within Canada and represents an important milestone for Indra’s Defence business, bringing the Department of National Defence into its portfolio of clients and moving closer to becoming a prominent player in the international aerospace and defense market.
