Captain Sania from Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district was awarded for Exemplary Service at a ceremony held in the national capital.
About Captain Sania
Capt Sania, an Indian army officer born and raised in the Pouni Barakh belt of Reasi district, is currently serving in the BRO department in Arunachal Pradesh. She was awarded the Exemplary Service award with a memento and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 at a function held in New Delhi on Saturday.
Capt Sania rose to prominence on social media last year after her team of lady jawans reopened the 60-foot Bailey bridge in Arunachal Pradesh in a single day. She is the first woman army officer from her hometown. Capt Sania, an engineer turned Army officer, inherited ‘olive’ from her father and grandfather (both retired Army personnel) and is the third generation in her family to serve in the Armed Forces.
“It’s a very proud and motivating moment,” said Capt Sania.

She attributed her success and achievements to her father Jagdev Singh and mother Anjuna Chib, calling it a great honor and thanking the organization (DCW) for the recognition of her services. Capt Sania has also been recognized for her efforts to make the environment safer for women and children.
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence, she was also given a DGBR commendation card. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, presented the officer with the award and congratulated her on her outstanding contributions. The event drew a large number of well-known people.
