The iconic ceremonial Change of Guard at Rashtrapati Bhavan will see a temporary suspension on September 13, 20, and 27, 2025. This decision has been formally announced to accommodate rehearsals for a significant event marking the diamond jubilee of the President’s Bodyguard.

In an official statement, it was revealed that the Ceremonial Battalion will be dedicated to preparing for a prestigious ceremony in which the President of India will present the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President’s Bodyguard. This high-profile event is set to take place in the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, although specific ceremonial details are pending.

The Change of Guard, a time-honored military tradition conducted every Saturday, involves a fresh contingent of the President’s Bodyguard assuming their duties. This ceremony typically lasts approximately 90 minutes and draws a substantial number of visitors eager to witness the pageantry and discipline on display.

This year, the spotlight will be on a momentous ceremony, celebrating the diamond jubilee of the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner, which are symbolic of honour and service. The presentation will be conducted by the President of India, followed by an audio-visual presentation that will delve into the history and significance of the Change of Guard tradition and the evolving role of the President’s Bodyguard.
