Cadets from the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune embarked on a four-day educational and training exposure programme at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi from March 11 to 14, 2026. The contingent included one officer, one non-commissioned officer (NCO), and 39 cadets, who were immersed in the rich legacy, traditions, and training ethos of the Maratha Light Infantry.

During their visit, the cadets engaged in a series of informative sessions, including an interactive meeting with the Commandant of the MLIRC. This interaction provided them with in-depth insights into the regiment’s storied history, its operational role within the Indian Army, and the high standards of training that define the Maratha Light Infantry.

The educational itinerary featured visits to key military training establishments such as the Commando Wing and Rashtriya Military School (RMS) in Belagavi. Here, cadets observed various facets of military training, enhancing their understanding of leadership development and the skills required for effective service.

One of the most exhilarating highlights of the visit was an adventure activity involving white water rafting on the Kali River at Dandeli. This experience not only offered an adrenaline rush but also served as a valuable opportunity for the cadets to strengthen team-building skills, endurance, and self-confidence in a challenging environment.

In addition to structured learning, the programme also included local sightseeing, allowing the cadets to explore the region and foster camaraderie among peers. This blend of educational experiences and recreational activities ensured that the cadets gained insights both within and beyond the classroom setting.

Overall, the four-day programme proved to be a remarkable fusion of learning and adventure, providing the CME cadets with a profound understanding of the traditions and operational culture of one of the Indian Army’s distinguished infantry regiments. The visit not only enriched their military education but also left a lasting impression that will enhance their future service in the armed forces.
