In a significant move to enhance operational readiness, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi toured forward areas, including the Bikaner Military Station. The visit aimed to engage with troops, veterans, and local dignitaries, ensuring a close understanding of the current military landscape.
During his engagement, General Dwivedi emphasized the Indian Army’s commitment to modernization, combat preparedness, and the integration of advanced technologies. He particularly focused on the importance of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and counter-UAS technologies, which are increasingly critical in meeting the challenges posed by future warfare.
In recognition of their dedicated service, General Dwivedi honored several retired veterans, including Lt Col Hem Singh Shekhawat, Lt Col Birbal Bishnoi, Risaldar Bhanwar Singh, and Hav Nakat Singh. This tribute highlighted the invaluable contributions of these veterans to the nation’s defense. The Army Chief took the opportunity to interact with personnel of all ranks, praising their professionalism and resilience, particularly in navigating the demanding desert and semi-desert terrains of Rajasthan.
Addressing the changing security dynamics, General Dwivedi underscored the necessity for a Military-Civil Fusion approach. He advocated for collaborations between industry and academia, urging a Whole-of-Nation strategy to bolster India’s defense preparedness. The COAS recognized the vital role of veterans in this process and reaffirmed the Army’s ongoing commitment to achieving technological superiority and maintaining battlefield dominance, aligning with the evolving needs of national security.
