The College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad has successfully wrapped up a week-long Management Development Program (MDP) on Organizational Behaviour, marking a pivotal enhancement in leadership capabilities among the Indian Armed Forces. Conducted from September 8 to September 13, 2025, this intensive program engaged 22 mid-level officers representing the Army, Navy, and Air Force, focusing on essential skills such as self-awareness, resilience, decision-making, effective communication, and teamwork.
Under the auspices of the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, the program was designed to equip officers for prospective leadership positions within dynamic operational contexts. It drew on international military training practices, including insights from a 1998 study by the National Academies Press on military simulations. The curriculum incorporated adaptive leadership strategies aimed at addressing multifaceted challenges while optimizing both individual and team performance, thus fostering a culture of adaptability and excellence across the tri-service framework.
A significant moment in the program was the valedictory ceremony, which celebrated the cooperation among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Senior officers awarded certificates to the participants, underscoring the program’s effectiveness in bridging inter-service divides. The event featured a group photograph of the attendees against the backdrop of CDM’s esteemed campus, emphasizing its position as Asia’s sole institution dedicated exclusively to defence management training.
This initiative is in line with the Indian Armed Forces’ recent investment of ₹99.7 billion (approximately US$1.2 billion) in a dedicated and secure optical fibre cable network—one of the largest closed user group networks globally. This move reflects a strategic shift towards technology-enhanced leadership. Accredited with an NAAC A+ rating and affiliated with Osmania University, the CDM continues to prepare over 500 officers each year, reinforcing its status as a key player in professional military education in India.
