College of Military Engineering Celebrates Graduation of 159 Students and International Collaboration

The College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune celebrated the graduation of 159 students from its Diploma courses in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering during a scroll presentation ceremony held on July 10, 2025. This event also marked a significant moment for six international students from countries including Lesotho, Mauritius, Nepal, and Senegal, underscoring CME’s expanding influence in global military education.

Major General Gaurav Kaushal, the Deputy Commandant and Dean of CME, delivered the valedictory address, where he stressed the significance of technical expertise and professionalism in the field of military engineering. He urged the graduates to embrace integrity, innovation, and responsibility in their future roles, emphasizing the institution’s dedication to cultivating excellence.

A standout aspect of the ceremony was an exhibition featuring projects created by students, which highlighted their practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and innovative solutions to engineering challenges. This showcase is a testament to CME’s rigorous training curriculum, designed to equip students with hands-on experience in their chosen fields. CME is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), holding an ‘A’ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Originally founded in 1943 as a training school in Roorkee, CME later moved to Pune and has since evolved into a premier center for technical and tactical education for the Indian Army’s Corps of Engineers. Under full Indian command since 1932, CME has played a pivotal role in advancing military infrastructure and combat engineering capabilities across India.

The presence of international students at the ceremony illustrates CME’s growing global engagement and its role in fostering military cooperation and knowledge sharing. The event concluded on a note of pride and purpose, with graduates poised to contribute to military operations and infrastructure projects both domestically and internationally.
