The 101st Convocation of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) was held at the MCEME Auditorium on July 9. Lieutenant General Tumul Varma, SM, VSM, director general of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers was the chief guest. He conferred the Bachelor of Technology degrees to 28 graduating officers of the technical entry scheme course 37.
The ceremony was attended by the members of the academic community, family members of the graduating officers, and senior officers of the armed forces. Lt Komaravolu Adharvan Sameer won the award for the best student officer for his all-around performance in academics, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Lt Shreet Mishra won the DG EME gold medal for coming first in the overall order of merit and the commandant’s gold medal for being the first in the electronics stream. Lt Manas Makarand Deshpande won the commandants’ gold medal by coming first in the mechanical stream.

The convocation ceremony was followed by a project display where the graduating officers were briefed about their projects to the dignitaries. All of them have dedicated their awards to their family and said they are happy to have the support of other officers in the journey forward. They also mentioned the difficulties they had to go through while making their annual projects.
The best project was the identification of Friend and Foe in AFVs by Lt Saurabh Kumar Singh, Lt Rupam Kumar Seth, Lt Mani Ratnam, and Lt Ashish Kumar Singh. This project aimed at identifying Friends and Foe for the armoured fighting vehicles. A system is a tool of combat identification used to prevent fratricide on the battlefield.” Other projects on the 3-D Holographic system, loco-motive wheelchair, pneumatic powered drone catcher gun, drone jammer, salto-jumping robot, and autonomous vehicles were also submitted.

While welcoming the DGEME and other dignitaries, Lt Gen JS Sidana, commandant, MCEME congratulated the passing out officers. The chief guest Lt Gen Tumul Varma, SM, VSM, director general of the corps of electronics and mechanical engineers also congratulated the officers. The general officer reminded the graduating officers that the degree is not the summit of their education and it should be treated as a springboard to further professional growth.
