Ayodhya Sets Guinness World Record

  • Festival of lights Diwali is being celebrated with religious fervour in Uttar Pradesh. State witnessed the Grand Deepotsav on the banks of Saryu river in Ayodhya.
  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this year is special and divine for Ayodhya, as the 500-year wait ended this year on January 22 and Lord Ram returned to the newly constructed temple.

  • Ayodhya city brightened up with the largest ever display of 25 Lakh 12 thousand 5 hundred 85 earthen lamps on the 55 ghats of Saryu river and created a world record yesterday evening.
  • Thousands of volunteers lit the lamps along with the bank of Saryu River through lanes of the city and at houses. Whole city was illuminated with the lights and clourful decorations on the theme of Ramayana.
  • This year another world record was created, in which 1,121 batuks performed the largest aarti together on the ghats of Saryu.
  • This was 8th Deepotsav in a row at Ayodhya after Yogi Adityanath came into power but first since the consecration ceremony of lord Rama at the Ram janmabhoomi Temple. A grand drone and laser show was also organized to mark the occasion.

India-Albania

  • India and Albania held bilateral consultations in Tirana. During the consultations, both sides undertaken a comprehensive review of bilateral, regional, and international issues.
  • Bilateral discussions included political relations, trade, cultural relations, and people-to-people contacts. Discussions also covered cooperation between the two countries in the international arena.

  • Both sides exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. The Indian side was led by Additional Secretary (Central Europe) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Arun Kumar Sahu.
  • The Albanian side was led by Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Endrit Yzeiraj. Mr. Sahu also met with Albania’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Olta Manjani.
  • During the meeting, both sides discussed issues pertaining to trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchanges and relations. India opened its resident mission in Albania in August this year.

Waste To Energy Plant In Ahmedabad

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated Gujarat’s largest waste-to-energy plant at Piplaj in Ahmedabad City.
  • The plant has been established on a PPP model at a cost of 375 crore rupees. Akashvani correspondent reports that this will be Ahmedabad’s first waste-to-energy plant, which will prove to be a big step towards a green future.

  • The largest West-to-Energy Plant, which has been set up at Pirana Piplaj Road in Ahmedabad, is a joint partnership between the Government of Gujarat and the Jindal Urban Waste Management Company.
  • The plant, which was set up on an experimental basis, was inaugurated officially today. It has the capacity to generate 15 megawatts of energy from 1 thousand metric tonnes of solid waste per day. The plant will not only ensure a green and clean future for Ahmedabad but will also prove to be a model initiative for effective waste management

Secular Civil Code

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is moving towards One Nation Civil Code that is a Secular Civil Code. Addressing ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ celebrations at Kevadia in Gujarat, Mr Modi said that the pursuit of a secular civil code is key to ending discrimination.
  • Prime Minister said, today we are all seeing the success of One Nation Identity – Aadhar and the world is also discussing it. He said, earlier, there were different tax systems in India, but we created the One Nation One Tax System – GST.

  • Prime Minister said, his government strengthened the country’s power sector with One Nation One Power Grid and integrated the facilities available to the poor through One Nation One Ration Card.
  • Mr Modi said, we have provided the facility of One Nation One Health Insurance to the people of the country in the form of Aayushman Bharat.
  • He said, under these efforts of ours for unity, we are now working towards One Nation One Election, which will strengthen India’s democracy, which will give optimum outcome of India’s resources and the country will gain new momentum in achieving the dream of a developed India.

Support For Palestine

  • India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, emphasised India’s commitment to increasing support for Palestine. He was addressing the UN Security Council debate on the Middle East in New York.

  • Highlighting India’s solidarity, Mr. Harish noted that India’s current development assistance for Palestine amounts to 120 million US dollars, including 37 million US dollars contributed to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
  • India has also sent six tonnes of medicines and medical supplies to UNRWA, with the first shipment delivered on October 22.

  • Mr. Harish also condemned the terror attacks in Israel on October 7, last year. He further called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages, emphasizing India’s support for a two-state solution.
  • He urged the global community to unite for peace, underscoring India’s role as a committed partner in fostering stability in the region

Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak

  • Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak has been awarded to 463 personnel of various States and Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organisations for the year 2024.
  • The medal is given to recognize excellent work, promote high professional standards and boost the morale of the officers in the fields of Special Operation, Investigation, Intelligence and Forensic Science.

  • The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak was instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 1st February this year.
  • The Ministry said, the medal will be announced every year on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st of October. The award will be conferred on members of the Police Forces, Security Organization, Intelligence Wing, National Security Guard in consideration for excellence in Operations, exceptional performance, indomitable and daring intelligence service.

Duma Boko

  • Duma Boko, the presidential candidate of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), was declared Botswana’s sixth president.
  • According to the southern African country’s electoral law, the polling will determine 61 members of the National Assembly and 609 local councillors, with the party that holds at least 31 parliament seats to be declared as the winner.

  • While the counting is yet to be finalised, UDC has already secured 34 members of the National Assembly, and the ruling party, the Botswana Democratic Party, got four seats.
  • Earlier, outgoing President Mokgweetsi Masisi conceded defeat as preliminary results showed his ruling party lost its parliamentary majority after nearly six decades in power. The BDP has governed the diamond-rich Southern African nation since 1966.

Mount Fuji

  • Japan’s iconic Mount Fuji has yet to receive its first snowfall of the season. This is unprecedented, marking the latest date without snow since records began in 1894.
  • The previous record was October 26, noted in 1955 and 2016. This year, warm weather has delayed the formation of the snowcap.
  • Mount Fuji typically sees its first snow around October 2. Last year, the snow appeared on October 5.

  • The absence of snow this year marks an important shift in weather patterns. The snowcap is essential for the mountain’s ecosystem and is a key feature for climbers and tourists.
  • This prolonged warmth has continued into September, preventing the cold air needed for snowfall. Experts suggest that climate change may be influencing these unusual weather patterns.
  • The rising global temperatures contribute to the warmer conditions experienced in Japan. Such changes can disrupt traditional seasonal weather, including snowfall.

Aandhi Village’s Journey To Zero-Waste Transformation

  • Aandhi, a small village in Jaipur district, is adopting a zero-waste model. This initiative is driven by green technology. The village aims to convert various types of waste into valuable resources.
  • This includes food waste, agricultural waste, wastewater, and hospital waste. Innovative technology interventions have been installed to support this transformation.

  • The project features a comprehensive package of technologies. Key components include:
  • Organic Waste Bio-Methanation Plant
  • Vermifiltration Technology
  • Constructed Wetlands
  • Resource Recovery Centre (RRC)
  • These technologies work together to create a sustainable waste management system.
  • Organic Waste Bio-Methanation Plant : Located at the government school, this plant has a capacity of 100 kg. It processes organic waste, such as food scraps and agricultural residues. The method used is anaerobic digestion. This process generates biogas, which is used for cooking and electricity. A 5 KW solar energy system powers the plant. This reduces reliance on traditional fuels and lowers greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Vermifiltration Technology : Installed at the community health centre, this system has a capacity of 10 KLD. It uses earthworms to filter and treat wastewater. The treated water is suitable for agricultural irrigation and landscape watering. This technology is energy-efficient and eco-friendly, thanks to solar energy integration. It promotes sustainable water reuse and environmental conservation.

  • Constructed Wetlands : The constructed wetlands are located at the main pond in Aandhi. With a capacity of 20 KLD, they mimic natural wetland processes. This system treats wastewater and helps restore local ecosystems. It enhances biodiversity and supports local flora and fauna. The wetlands improve the overall health of the pond ecosystem.

  • Community Involvement : The project actively involves the local community. Demonstration plants were inaugurated at key locations. This included a government school and a community health centre. Mansi Ahlawat

Mansi defeated Laurence Beauregard of Canada, 5-NIL, in the bronze medal match last night. Risako Kinjo of Japan won the Gold, Tserenchimed Sukhee of Mongolia grabbed the Silver, while Elena Heike Brugger of Germany shared the Bronze with Mansi.
