National Creators Award

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underlined that the potential of content creators can take India’s branding to a new height at the national and international levels.
  • Speaking after presenting the first-ever National Creators Award at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today, Mr. Modi highlighted the power of creativity and gave the example of visualizing excavated artifacts that have the potential to take the viewer back to the same era to experience it.

  • He exhorted content creators to start a Create on India Movement to share India’s stories, culture, heritage, and traditions with the whole world.
  • Mr Modi urged them to engage the global audience to create content that not only makes for maximum likes for the creator but also for the country.
  • He said, content creators are the digital ambassadors of India all over the world and they are also the brand ambassadors of Vocal for Local.
  • The Prime Minister suggested creating more awareness of serious issues of mental health and stress among children and also focusing on content creation in local languages.
  • He also recommended creating content that highlights the negative effects of drugs on the youth.
  • Mr Modi stated that the collaboration of content and creativity grows engagement, collaboration of content and digital brings transformation, and collaboration of content with purpose shows impact. He requested the content creators to bring inspiration through content.
  • Mr Modi said, India’s power of creativity to become a catalytic agent for its development. He said, the country has witnessed a data revolution in the last ten years.

  • Digital India Mission has created a new world of content creators.  The National Creators Award is an effort to recognise excellence and impact across domains, including storytelling, social change advocacy, environmental sustainability, education, and gaming, among others.
  • The award is envisioned as a launchpad for using creativity to drive positive change. The National Creator Award has witnessed exemplary public engagement.
  • In the first round, more than 1.5 lakh nominations across 20 different categories were received. In the voting round, about 10 lakh votes were cast for digital creators in various award categories.

Measles And Rubella Champion’ Global Award

  • India has been bestowed with the prestigious measles and rubella champion award for its exemplary efforts in combating these diseases.
  • The award was received by the ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington.
  • The Health Ministry in a statement said, this accolade celebrates the country’s unwavering commitment to public health and its outstanding leadership in curbing the spread of these infectious diseases among children.
  • It said, despite facing numerous challenges, India has demonstrated remarkable progress in reducing measles and rubella cases and preventing outbreaks through a series of comprehensive interventions.

  • The Ministry further said, the award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of country’s frontline health workers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and communities across the nation.
  • It said, these efforts have resulted in 50 districts consistently not witnessing any measles case while 226 districts have not reported rubella cases over the past 12 months.
  • The measles and rubella partnership comprises a multi-agency planning committee, including the American Red Cross, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), UNICEF and World Health Organisation. All of these organisations are dedicated to reducing global measles deaths and preventing rubella illness.

Subhash Abhinandan

  • Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal will launch a digital exhibition ‘Subhash Abhinandan’ based on the life of Subhash Chandra Bose in New Delhi on 11th March.
  • The exhibition is being organized by the National Archives of India to commemorate its 134th Foundation Day.
  • The Ministry of Culture in a statement said that the exhibition comprises 16 sections covering the period from Netaji’s birth to the present time.
  • It provides a glimpse of his life through documents, showcasing significant items such as Janaki Nath Bose’s diary, his birth, his civil service examination results and more.
  • The decades of struggle from 1920 to 1940 are well documented, offering insights into his speeches, his adventurous journey and the struggle of Azad Hind Fauj.

Republic Summit

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that India has proved that Good Economics can go hand in hand with Good Politics.
  • Speaking on ‘Bharat: The Next Decade’ at the Republic Summit on Thursday evening, Mr Modi said India remains a beacon of faith for the world as a strong democracy.
  • He stressed that this decade will be an important one to fulfill the dreams of Viksit Bharat.

  • He emphasised that this decade will be the decade of India’s High Speed Connectivity, High Speed Mobility and High Speed Prosperity.
  • Mr Modi said his entire focus is on increasing the speed and scale of the country’s development. He pointed out that in the last ten years, people have seen solutions and not slogans.

National Centres of Excellence for Women

  • Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has announced the establishment of two National Centres of Excellence for Women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
  • Ministry said the National Centres of Excellence cover 23 priority disciplines where Indian athletes have a chance to win medals in global competitions like the Asian Games and the Olympics.

  • It said, the Sports Authority of India established 23 National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs) across the country to impart specialized training to promising athletes by providing state-of-the art infrastructure and playing facilities.
  • Addressing the event in Bengaluru, the Minister said, Sports is a state subject, but still, the central government is keen to look at the upliftment of sports in the country.
  • The government had spent a lot of money on infrastructure and the coaches. Mr. Thakur said that the central government is collaborating with state governments and asked them to identify three key sports to have a roadmap for improvement.

Formula 1 Fuel In India

  • Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC), the nation’s premier oil firm, is set to revolutionize the motorsports industry by manufacturing fuel tailored for adrenaline-pumping Formula One (F1) racing.
  • With its latest offering, ‘Storm’ petrol, IOC aims to expand its repertoire of niche fuels, catering to the high-performance demands of motor racing enthusiasts.
  • IOC recently unveiled ‘Storm’ petrol, a high-performance fuel specifically designed for the Asian region motorcycle road racing championship.

  • This move marks a significant milestone as IOC becomes the first company in India to produce fuel conforming to the rigorous specifications required for road racing.
  • In a strategic partnership with the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, IOC will supply ‘Storm’ fuel to motorcyclists from 15 countries participating in the championship.
  • This collaboration underscores IOC’s commitment to fueling the aspirations of motorsports athletes across the region.
  • With a timeline of just two months, IOC aims to produce Category-1 fuel, followed by the production of Formula 1 fuel within three months.
  • This swift progression highlights IOC’s agility and determination to excel in the competitive arena of motorsports.
  • In alignment with global sustainability goals, IOC emphasizes the incorporation of non-fossil sources in Formula One fuels.
  • With provisions for 40% of the fuel derived from sources such as alcohol, algae, or waste, IOC reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship.
  • Beyond Formula One, IOC plans to manufacture fuels catering to similar high-performance requirements, targeting automobile manufacturers participating in various racing championships.
  • This diversification strategy underscores IOC’s versatility and adaptability in meeting evolving market demands. In contrast to standardized fuel supply in certain racing championships, Formula One allows teams to select their preferred fuel suppliers.
  • IOC’s entry into Formula One opens avenues for collaboration with elite racing teams, offering tailored fuel solutions to enhance performance on the track.

Sahityotsav

  • Sahitya Akademi, the esteemed National Academy of Letters in India, is marking its 70th anniversary this year, and in honor of this milestone, the annual ‘Sahityotsav’ has transformed into the world’s largest literary festival.
  • Dr. K. Sreenivasrao, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi, has revealed that over 1100 renowned writers and scholars will grace the event, participating in more than 190 sessions.

  • Additionally, the festival will showcase the rich linguistic diversity of India, with representation from over 175 languages.
  • Festival of Letters, spanning across over 190 sessions, will kick off with an exhibition highlighting the Akademi’s significant activities from the preceding year.
  • Distinguished Odia writer, Pratibha Rai, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
  • Renowned Urdu writer and lyricist, Gulzar, will deliver the esteemed Samvatsar lecture on March 13th at 6:30 pm at the Meghdoot open theatre, adding a touch of literary brilliance to the festival.
  • The festival promises a diverse array of activities, including the felicitation of Sahitya Akademi Fellows on March 11th.
  • Among the scheduled events are Multilingual Poetry readings, short story readings, and discussions on topics ranging from Bhakti Literature of India to the Novels of the Future., Exploring Literary Themes and Movements , Panel discussions and symposia will delve into critical themes such as:  Cultural Heritage of India, Science Fiction in Indian Languages, Ethics and Literature, Biographies in Indian Languages, Literature and Social Movements, Indian Literature Abroad, Post-Independence Indian Literature.
  • Special Focus on Inclusivity, The festival also dedicates attention to marginalized voices with programs like the All India Differently Abled Writers’ Meet and the LGBTQ Writers’ Meet.

RBI And Bank Indonesia

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Bank Indonesia (BI) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering the utilization of local currencies – the Indian Rupee (INR) and the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) – for cross-border transactions.
  • The MoU, signed in Mumbai by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, establishes a framework to foster the use of INR and IDR in cross-border transactions.

  • By facilitating transactions in local currencies, the collaboration seeks to enhance trade between India and Indonesia, fostering deeper financial integration and reinforcing the longstanding economic ties between the two nations.
  • Covering all current account transactions, permissible capital account transactions, and other economic and financial transactions mutually agreed upon, the MoU provides a comprehensive framework for cooperation.
  • The framework enables exporters and importers to invoice and settle transactions in their domestic currencies, leading to the development of an INR-IDR foreign exchange market and optimizing costs and settlement times.
