  • The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Jamuna has been deployed in the shores of Sri Lanka to carry out a joint Hydrographic survey. The survey is to be conducted 2 months time period.
    The Hydographic survey is the measurement and study of features that affect maritime navigation. It also includes offshore oil exploration, dredging, oil drilling and other related activities.
  • The Ministry of MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) launched “Apiary on Wheels”. It is a unique concept framed by KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission). The main aim of “Apiary on Wheels” is to make migration easy.
  • Government of India issued draft rules to set up International Arbitration Centre. In order achieve institutionalized arbitration, GoI has enacted the New Delhi International Arbitration act, 2019.
  • Every Year February 13 is being celebrated as World Radio Day. The day is being celebrated by UNESCO of United Nations. The organization calls all radio stations to uphold matters of diversity. Theme: Radio and Diversity.
  • The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will develop an air quality monitoring network access across 90 locations in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It will be the largest network in India.
  • In terms of the provisions of the RBI Act 1934, notes in denominations higher than Rs 10000 cannot be issued. As per the Coinage Act, 1906, coins can be issued up to the denomination of Rs 1,000.
  • The national women’s day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of independence activist, Sarojini Naidu (also named Nightingale of India),on February 13. She was born in 13 February 1879 in Hyderabad British India (now in Telangana, India).
  • The International Women’s Day is observed on 8th March annually.
  • Former India all-rounder Robin Singh, 56 years old, appointed Director of Cricket of the UAE(United Arab Emirates). He was appointed by Emirates Cricket Board after the dismissal of head coach Douglas Robert Brown.
  • Indian hockey captain Manpreet Singh was named by IHF as Player of the Year, 2019. He is the first Indian to win the title.
  • National Productivity day was observed on February 12 to increase the productivity culture in India. The day commemorates the foundation of the National Productivity Council (NPC) and Productivity week will be celebrated from (Feb 12 to Feb 18, 2020). National Productivity Council (NPC) comes under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
  • The Ministry of Food Processing is organizing National level Food Festival for 3 days. Several Self-Help Groups are to exhibit their spices, fruits and vegetable, honey, dry fruits, cereals, etc. he main aim of the festival is to boost production of organic products.Theme: Unleashing India’s Organic Market Potential
  • President Ram Nath Kovind presented the President’s Colors Awards to INS Shivaji. The Indian Naval Station Shivaji has completed 75 years of service.
  • A 1st of its kind rehabilitation centre for freshwater turtles is to be inaugurated in January 2020 in the Bhagalpur forest division of Bihar. This centre spread over half a hectare will be able to shelter 500 turtles at a time. The centre will also treat turtles that are sick, severely injured or smuggled, and then be returned safely into its natural habitat.
