India’s First Namo Bharat Rapid Rail

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called the current era as the golden period for India. He said the country is witnessing its Amrit Kal and aiming to make India a developed nation in the next 25 years.
  • PM was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the various developmental projects worth over 8 thousand crore rupees at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad.

  • He also virtually flagged off the Country’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Ahmedabad and Bhuj and six other Vande Bharat Trains. Indian Railways has revolutionized the notion of metro travel by introducing Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.
  • By connecting metropolitan centers with surrounding areas, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will span inter-city destinations, unlike traditional metros that run between urban stations.
  • Unlike urban metro services, it serves a wider range of travel needs. With seating for 1,150 people, the train can accommodate up to 2,058 standing passengers. The train offers air-conditioned coaches and sofas with cushions for seating.

NPS-Vatsalya Scheme

  • In pursuance of the announcement in the Union Budget 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the NPS-Vatsalya scheme on September 18 in New Delhi.
  • Finance Ministry said that during the event, Ms  Sitharaman will also launch an online platform for subscribing to NPS Vatsalya, release of scheme brochure, and distribute Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) cards to new minor subscribers.

  • NPS Vatsalya scheme will allow parents to save for their children’s future by investing in a pension account and ensuring long-term wealth with the power of compounding.
  • The scheme offers flexible contributions and investment options, allowing parents to invest Rs. 1,000 annually in the name of the child.

BHASKAR Platform For Startups

  • Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry-BHASKAR in New Delhi.
  • BHASKAR is an interactive online platform that will centralise, streamline, and enhance collaboration among key stakeholders within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including startups, investors, mentors, service providers, and regulatory bodies.

  • Mr Goyal called on entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to make India a global hub in the startup ecosystem.
  • Bhaskar will help startups to connect, collaborate and compete with each other.
  • The Minister added that this platform will bring hope, aspirations and success to kickstart an ambitious revolution in this sector. Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Amardeep Singh Bhatia also urged all to contribute their ideas to make BHASKAR a stronger platform that will push the startup movement in the country.

COP9 Bureau & Fund Approval Committee

  • India will host the 2nd Formal Meeting of the COP9 Bureau and the 3rd Formal Meeting of the Fund Approval Committee under the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport in New Delhi.
  • As ViceChairperson of the COP9 Bureau, India has taken the lead in organizing the two-day high-level gatherings, which will bring together key decision-makers and dignitaries from across the world.

  • Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry said, the meetings will serve as a vital platform for countries and international organizations to deliberate on key issues concerning anti-doping, the development of fair sports practices, and global collaboration in upholding the principles of integrity in sport.
  • The meetings will see participation from distinguished delegates representing countries such as France, Italy, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Barbados, Singapore, Netherlands, Türkiye, UAE, and Zambia.

RE-INVEST Global Meet 2024

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving green development and net-zero targets.
  • He was addressing gathering after inaugurating the fourth RE Invest Global Renewable Energy Meet.
  • Prime Minister Modi also dedicated to the nation the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijali Yojana at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. 
  • Prime Minister said that, despite being a developing country, India has achieved its climate commitments set in Paris nine years ahead of the target. India has made its green transition a people’s movement.
  • PM Suryaghar Muft Bijali Yojana, every home in India is set to become a power producer. Over One crore people have registered for the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijali Yojana and solar rooftops have been installed more than 3 lakh houses under the scheme.

  • He also stressed on the ample job and skill opportunities lying in the renewable energy sector for youths. Mr. Modi said that the pro-climate principle is a core part of India’s commitment, which includes promoting Mission LIFE and a circular economy approach.
  • He also unveiled the plans of his government to develop 17 cities in the country as Solar cities.  
  • Prime Minister also highlighted his government’s achievements in various clean energy production areas, including green hydrogen, over the past 10 years.

  • Prime Minister urged all the stakeholders and global representatives to invest in India’s ever emerging green energy sector. India has recorded 86 percent growth in the renewable energy sector.
  • 4th RE-INVEST Global Renewable Energy Meet & Expo has been organized by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
  • The meet will highlight India’s impressive progress in renewable energy manufacturing and deployment. The three-day event will feature over 40 sessions and specialised discussions on innovative financing, green hydrogen, and future energy solutions.
  • Around 10,000 delegates from 140 countries are taking part in the event. Earlier today, the Prime Minister interacted with the beneficiaries of PM Suryghar Muft Bijali Yojana in Gandhinagar.

8th India Water Week 2024

  • 8th India Water Week 2024 will start in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the event at Bharat Mandapam.
  • During the four-day event, around four thousand delegates including two hundred foreign delegates from 40 countries will participate.
  • More than one hundred exhibitors and startups will showcase their ideas in the water sector during the exhibition.

  • Good water management will accelerate the economic growth of the country. She said, the event will serve as a global platform to elicit ideas and opinions from global-level decision-makers, researchers, experts, innovators and stakeholders in the field of water resources from across the world.
  • Ms Mukherjee said, the theme of this event is – Partnership and cooperation for inclusive water development and management.
