India Imposes Anti- Dumping Duty

  • India has imposed anti-dumping duties on five Chinese products: Soft Ferrite Cores, vacuum insulated flasks, aluminium foil, Trichloro Isocyanuric Acid, and Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Paste Resin.
image 701
  • These products were being exported from China at prices lower than their normal market value, causing harm to domestic manufacturers. The duties were recommended by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Ministry of Commerce and will be imposed for up to five years to ensure fair trade practices.

World’s First ‘Supersolid’ Created From Light

  • Researchers have successfully transformed light into a supersolid—a new phase of matter that combines properties of both superfluids and solids. This discovery,  has profound implications for quantum computing, materials science, and energy storage.
  • Scientists at CNR-INO, CNR-Nanotec, and the University of Pavia have demonstrated that this light-based supersolid maintains a coherent quantum droplet structure while allowing friction-free flow, a property unique to superfluids. This milestone opens new avenues in understanding light-matter interactions and may lead to advanced photonic applications in the future.

  • Supersolid : A supersolid is a unique state of matter that behaves both like a solid and a superfluid. It has an ordered crystalline structure but can flow without friction, similar to a superfluid. The newly created supersolid is composed of light, challenging traditional views of light as pure energy.
  •  How Light-Based Supersolid Created : Researchers used semiconductor nanostructures to manipulate light into a supersolid phase. The experiment involved quantum droplets arranged periodically, allowing them to flow without disruption while maintaining their spatial arrangement. This is a novel approach, differing from previous atomic-based supersolids.

  •  Potential Applications
  • Quantum Computing: Supersolids could enhance qubit stability in quantum processors.
  • Materials Science: Understanding supersolids could lead to new high-performance materials.
  • Energy Storage: Exploring light-based supersolids may revolutionize photonic energy storage.
  • Light-Emitting Devices: This discovery could enable next-generation optical technologies.

GI- Tagged Jaggery

  • GI-tagged jaggery from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, a region renowned for its high-quality sugarcane, was flagged off for export to A consignment of 30 metric tons (MT) has been exported to Bangladesh.
  • This initiative marks the beginning of direct exports of jaggery from western Uttar Pradesh to Bangladesh through Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs).
