Constitution Day 2024

  • Government Has Announced Year-long Celebrations Beginning Today to Commemorate The 75th Year Of The Adoption Of The Constitution Of India.
  • Constitution Day, Also Known As Samvidhan Divas, Is Celebrated Every Year On November 26 To Commemorate The Day The Constitution Of India Was Adopted In 1949.

  • Finally Came Into Effect On January 26, 1950, When India Became A Republic. Previously Known As Law Day, In 2015, The Ministry Of Social Justice And Empowerment Announced That It Would Be Known As Constitution Day To Foster Constitutional Values Among Citizens.
  • Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya To Lead Samvidhan Divas Padyatra In Delhi. Over 10,000 MY Bharat Youth Volunteers Expected To Join Padyatra Celebrating Constitutional Values.
  • The Celebrations Are Being Conducted Under The Campaign Tagline “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan” And Aim To Honour The Contributions Of The Constitution’s Makers While Reiterating The Core Values Enshrined In It.

Govt Approves PAN 2.0 Project

  • Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), has given its approval for the PAN 2.0 Project of the Income Tax Department. The financial implications for the PAN 2.0 Project will be one thousand 435 crore rupees.
  • Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that under it, the existing system will be completely upgraded and there will be a unified portal.
  • He informed that  PAN 2.0 will have robust cyber security measures.  Mr Vaishnaw also clarified that the exiting Permanent Account Number will be the same

  • PAN 2.0 Project is an e-Governance project for re-engineering the business processes of taxpayer registration services through technology-driven transformation of PAN/TAN services for the enhanced digital experience of the taxpayers.
  • This will be an upgrade of the current PAN/TAN 1.0 eco-system consolidating the core and non-core PAN/TAN activities as well as PAN validation service.
  • The PAN 2.0 Project resonates with the vision of the Government enshrined in Digital India by enabling the use of PAN as a Common Identifier for all digital systems of specified government agencies.

National Mission On Natural Farming

  • Union Cabinet has approved the launching of the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) as a standalone Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and  Farmers’ Welfare.
  • It has been with a total outlay of 2,481 crore rupees. Briefing media after the Union Cabinet meeting in New Delhi this evening, Information and Broadcasting Minister  Ashwini Vaishanw said, the Mission aims to revive natural farming for chemical-free and sustainable farming.

  • He termed the decision as path-breaking, saying it will benefit farmers. Mr Vaishnaw said that one crore farmers will be covered under the National Mission on Natural Farming.
  • He said the objective of the mission is to promote nature-based sustainable systems of farming, reduce dependency on externally purchased inputs, improve soil health and reduce input costs.
  • He added that it will create and promote a single national brand for naturally grown chemical-free produce.
  • National Mission on Natural Farming will be implemented in 15 thousand clusters in Gram Panchayats.
  • Farmers will be provided an easy simple certification system and dedicated common branding to provide access to the market for their natural farming produce. 

One Nation One Subscription

  • Union Cabinet has also approved One Nation One Subscription, a new Central Sector Scheme for providing country-wide access to scholarly research articles and journal publications, through a simple, user-friendly and fully digital process.

  • Six thousand crore rupees have been allocated for One Nation One Subscription for three calendar years – 2025, 2026, and 2027.  Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that in the first phase, One Nation One Subscription will be implemented in all higher educational institutions under the management of the Central or  State government and Research and Development Institutions of the Central government.
  • In the second phase, it will be initiated in the remaining higher educational institutions and then across the country. The Department of Higher Education will have a unified portal “One Nation One Subscription” through which the institutions will be able to access the journals. The ANRF will periodically review the usage of One Nation One Subscription and publications of Indian authors of these institutions.

UN Global Geospatial Information Management

  • India is hosting the 13th United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM) Asia-Pacific Plenary and Regional Conference. The four-day event will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

  • Ninety international delegates from 30 countries, along with 120 delegates from India, will participate in the conference. This conference will serve as a key forum for the exchange of global best practices, emerging geospatial technologies, and the formulation of regional strategies to enhance the use of geospatial information for realizing the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Addressing the press conference today, Surveyor General of India Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana said that India is taking a leadership position in the Asia-Pacific region in the geospatial sector.

TeacherApp To Equip Educators

  • Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the TeacherApp in New Delhi.
  • The primary aim of the digital platform is to revolutionize education in India by equipping educators with future-ready skills to meet the demands of 21st-century classrooms.
  • Minister said that this app will empower teachers through continuous capacity building, leveraging innovative course content, technology, and community-building features.

  • Mr. Pradhan emphasized that teachers are the real Karmayogis shaping the future generation. He said the government is focusing on continuous capacity building with the spirit of National Education Policy 2020.
  • The Union Minister further asserted that teachers will play a pivotal role in identifying future opportunities and will ensure the youth-led growth of the nation.

Ab Koi Bahana Nahi

  • The government will launch a national campaign Ab Koi Bahana Nahi in New Delhi . The campaign calls on the public, government, and key stakeholders to take actionable steps to eliminate gender-based violence.
  • It is a collaborative effort between the Ministries of Women and Child Development and Rural Development, with support from UN Women.

  • At the campaign, a film on Ab Koi Bahana Nahi will be released to showcase the need for accountability from all stakeholders, including each citizen, to pledge against ending gender-based violence.
  • The Women and Child Development Ministry said, the campaign will be launched along with the Nayi Chetna 3.0 campaign to ensure a wide reach on spreading the call to action on ending gender-based violence, leaving no one behind.
  • On 25th November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is observed globally every year.

Prime Minister Internship Scheme – 2024

  • Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) will launch on December 2, 2024, and aims to enhance job opportunities and skills for India’s youth.
  • The pilot phase began on October 3, 2024, and Selected candidates will receive joining orders on the launch day.
  • PMIS has secured 1.28 lakh internships from 280 leading companies, spans 745 districts, and covers 25 industries. Companies include Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Industries, and HDFC Bank.

  • Sectors involved are energy, automotive, banking, manufacturing, IT, and telecom. The scheme received 6.2 lakh applications before the November 15 deadline. Eligible applicants must be aged 21-24.

  • They should have completed at least the 10th grade, ITI, Polytechnic, Diploma, or graduation. Applicants can apply for up to five internships in their own or other states.
  • Interns will receive a monthly allowance of ₹5,000. A one-time grant of ₹6,000 will also be provided. The government has allocated ₹800 crore for the pilot phase.

  • The goal is to offer 1.25 lakh internships in the fiscal year 2025. PMIS promotes inclusivity by targeting underrepresented groups. Graduates from top institutions like IITs and IIMs are excluded to level the playing field.
  • The scheme encourages practical learning through real-world experience. The scheme aims to skill 1 crore youth over five years, is part of a larger ₹2 lakh crore project to create jobs and enhance skills.
  • The Ministry of Corporate Affairs oversees the PMIS, ensuring efficient management and implementation.
