  • The Visiting Delegation Is Scheduled To Meet People From Across Different Sectors Including Business, Tech, Government, And Bollywood. Other Members Of The Bipartisan Group Are Congressmen Deborah Ross, Kat Cammack, Shri Thanedar, And Jasmine Crockett Along With Rich McCormick And Ed Case.

  • The Bill Has Been Brought To Simplify The Birth And Death Registration And It Will Be Completely Digital. He Said The Data Received Will Help In Making Social Schemes For The Benefit Of The People.
  • According To The Bill, The Birth And Death Certificates Can Be Received Within Seven Days.
  • The Bill Seeks To Amend The Registration Of Births And Deaths Act, Of 1969 Which Provides For The Regulation And Registration Of Births And Deaths. The Act Provides For The Appointment Of A Registrar-general, India Who May Issue Directions For Registration Of Births And Deaths.
  • The Bill Adds That The Registrar General Will Maintain A National Database Of Registered Births And Deaths.

Parliament Passes The Mediation Bill 2023

  • The Parliament Has Passed The Mediation Bill 2023 With The Lok Sabha Giving Its Assent To The Bill. The Rajya Sabha Had Already Cleared It.
  • Nearly 70,000 Cases Are Pending In Supreme Court, 60 Lakh Cases Are Pending In High Courts And 4 Crore Cases Are Pending In District And Subordinate Courts.
  • Government Has Given Priority To Reduce The Pendency Of Cases In The Courts.
  • Bill Will Boost The Ease Of Living And Will Be Cost-effective. He Said, Through This Bill Mediation Centres Will Get Legal Support. 
  • The Bill Requires Persons To Try To Settle Civil Or Commercial Disputes Through Mediation Before Approaching Any Court Or Tribunal.
  • A Party May Withdraw From Mediation After Two Mediation Sessions. The Mediation Process Must Be Completed Within 180 Days, Which May Be Extended By Another 180 Days By The Parties.
  • The Bill Provides For The Setting Up Of The Mediation Council Of India. Its Functions Will Include Registering Mediators And Recognizing Mediation Service Providers And Mediation Institutes.

385 Projects Under Nagar Van Yojana Scheme

  • The Centre Has Approved A Total Of 385 Projects Under The Nagar Van Yojana (NVY) Scheme Since Its Inception In 2020.
  • The Scheme Aims At Promoting Urban Forestry By Involving Local Communities, NGOs, Educational Institutions And Local Bodies.
  • The Government Has Released More Than 238 Crore Rupees Fund To 31 States And Union Territories.

  • The Supreme Court Announced On Monday (07 August 2023) A Three-member Committee Comprising Of Former Women High Court Judges And 42 Special Investigation Teams In Relation To The Manipur Violence Cases To Restore A Sense Of Faith In The Rule Of Law And Build A Sense Of Confidence.
  • The Apex Court Said A Three-member Committee Comprising Of Former Women High Court Judges Will Be Established In The Matter Involving Ethnic Violence In Manipur.
  • Chief Justice Of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud Announced That This Committee Will Extend Its Purview Beyond The Ongoing Investigation, Focusing On Diverse Aspects Of Humanitarian Nature. It Will Be A “Broad-based Committee” Looking At Things Including Relief, Remedial Measures, Rehabilitation Measures, And Restoration Of Homes And Places Of Worship.
  • The Committee Will Be Headed By Former Jammu And Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Gita Mittal And Comprise Former Bombay High Court Judge Shalini Phansalkar Joshi And (Former Delhi HC Judge) Justice Asha Menon.

  • The Haryana Government Is Planning To Build A Dam At A Cost Of 6,134 Crore Rupees.
  • It Will Have A 14-km-long Reservoir And Will Be Built 4.5 Km Upstream From The Hathnikund Barrage In Yamunanagar District.
  • Once The Project Is Completed, The State Will Have Greater Availability Of Irrigation Water, Groundwater Recharge, And Aquaculture, Apart From Generation Of 250 MW Of Electricity.
  • Its Reservoir Will Have A Capacity Of 10.82 Lakh Cusecs. This Is Likely To Prevent Floods Caused By The Yamuna In Delhi And In Adjoining Areas Of The River In Haryana.

  • Event Unlocks One More Step Towards AatmaNirbhar Bharat And Self-reliance In The Field Of Space And Communication. 
  • Currently Tata Play Has 600 Channels.
  • With The Inclusion Of The Satellite, It Would Be Able To Transmit 900 Channels Benefitting The General Public.

Inter-Services Organisation Bill-2023 Passed

  • Parliament Passed The Inter-services Organisation (Command, Control And Discipline) Bill-2023 With Rajya Sabha Approving It Today. The Bill Was Already Passed In The Lok Sabha. The Bill Empowers The Officer-in-command Of Inter-services Organisations To Exercise Disciplinary And Administrative Control Over The Service Personnel Under Their Command, Irrespective Of Their Service.
  • The Bill Will Be Applicable To All Personnel Of The Regular Army, Navy, And Air Force, And To Persons Of Other Forces As Notified By The Central Government, Who Are Serving In Or Attached To An Inter-services Organisation. As Per The Provisions Of The Bill, The Central Government May Constitute An Inter-services Organisation That Has Personnel Belonging To At Least Two Of The Three Services.
  • It Is Necessary That Army, Navy And Air Force Work With Better Coordination To Face The New Challenges. Therefore, By Combining The Personnel Of The Three Services, Inter-services Organizations Are Formed, Which Will Work In An Integrated Manner.
  • The Purpose Of This Bill Is To Further Strengthen The Tradition Of Discipline In The Armed Forces.
  • The Bill Provides Better Disciplinary And Administrative Powers To The Heads Of Inter-services Organisations, Enabling Them To Bring About Effective Command, Control And Discipline In Their Organizations.
