What are the Maternity Benefit programmes by the GOI?
- Janani Suraksha Yojana – A safe motherhood intervention under the National Rural Health Mission (NHM). It is being implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and infant mortality by promoting institutional delivery among pregnant women.
- Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana – It is a conditional cash transfer scheme for pregnant and lactating women of 19 years of age or above for the first live birth. It was introduced in 2017.
- Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) was launched to provide fixed-day assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care universally to all pregnant women (in 2nd and 3rd trimester) on the 9th of every month.
Zonal Master Plan of Bhagirathi Eco-Sensitive Zone
- The union environment ministry has approved the zonal master plan for the Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone.
- It stretches from Gaumukh to Uttarkashi covering an area of 4179.59 sqkm.
- It will ensure the faster execution of Char Dham Road Project.
- Zonal Master Plan (ZMP) – The ZMP is based on watershed approach and includes governance in the area of forest and wildlife, watershed management, irrigation, energy, tourism, public health and sanitation, road infrastructure, etc.
- Location of Bhagirathi Eco- Sensitive Zone – Upper Himalayas. It is an interdependent fragile Ganga-Himalayan basin. The area falls under the Higher Himalayas and Garhwal lesser Himalayas
- The Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone notification was first issued by the environment ministry on December 18, 2012.
- Char Dham Road Project – The Char Dham project proposes to provide all-weather connectivity to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath, and has 53 projects of 826 km length
Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2020
- Released by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
- India records the largest reduction in the number of People living in poverty as around 273 million people moved out of the multidimensional poverty over 10 years.
- Around 1.3 billion people are still living in multidimensional poverty.
- Children show higher rates of multidimensional poverty. Half of multidimensionally poor people (644 million) are children under age 18. One in three children is poor compared with one in six adults.
- Among the 65 countries, 50 countries have reduced the number of people living in poverty.

Inauguration of COVID19 Plasma Donation Campaign at AIIMS
- The event was co-organized by Delhi Police where 26 police personnel who had recovered from COVID volunteered to donate their blood plasma.
- Recovery rate in the country is around 63 per cent and the fatality rate in India is around 2.5 which is least in comparison with the global average.
- India’s Case Fatality Rate (CFR) falls below 2.5% for the first time
- 29 States and UTs register a CFR lower than the national average.
