SCO Countries Need To Counter Terror Without Hesitation: PM Modi                              

  • Terrorism has become a threat to regional and global peace and Eurasia needs to counter the menace without hesitation, PM Narendra Modi said while addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit on Tuesday.
  • He called on member states to band together to fight terrorism and not hesitate to condemn countries that support terror during a virtual address that was also attended by the Pakistani Prime Minister.
  • Chinese President Xi Jinping pitched for his country’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in his speech at the SCO Summit on Tuesday, claiming that the infrastructure project would facilitate regional cooperation and trade and investment, even as host India expressed reservations over such initiatives.

Israel Air Strikes On Gaza In Response To Rocket Fire: Army                                   

  • Israel carried out air strikes on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday in response to rockets fired from the Palestinian coastal enclave, the army said.
  • “In response to the rockets launched earlier tonight, the Israel Defense Force is currently striking in the Gaza Strip,” the army said, which a Palestinian security source said had hit a Hamas military site in northern Gaza but caused no injuries.
  • The Israeli Army has launched a massive military operation against the Jenin camp in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern region. It all started with a series of drone strikes. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least three Palestinians have been killed and more than 20 others have been injured in the ongoing raid. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stated that they were targeting terrorist infrastructure in Jenin. They stated that we will not stand by idly while terrorists continue to harm civilians while using Jenin Camp as a safe haven, adding that the camp was a terrorist stronghold.
  • The Israeli Army Has Launched A Massive Military Operation On The Jenin Camp In The North Of The Occupied West Bank. It Started With Multiple Drone Strikes. The Palestinian Health Ministry Said At Least Three Palestinians Were Killed And More Than 20 Others Wounded In The Ongoing Raid.
  • The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Said They Were Striking Terrorist Infrastructure In The Jenin Area. They Said That We Will Not Standby Idle While Terrorists Continue To Harm Civilians Using Jenin Camp As A Hideout, Adding That The Camp Was A Terrorist Stronghold.

Visit Of Lebanese Armed Forces To Southern Naval Command  

  • A five-member Training delegation from the Lebanese Armed Forces led by Brigadier General Hussein Bazzi is on a visit to Southern Naval Command, Kochi and Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala from 03 – 08 Jul 23.
  • During the ongoing visit, the delegation interacted with Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, Chief Staff Officer (Training) and held discussions on issues of interoperability and collaboration between the two forces in the field of training.
  • The delegation also visited various training establishments of Southern Naval Command at Kochi and witnessed state-of-the-art training infrastructure, facilities and demonstrations on simulators.
