IAF MiG-21 Crashes In Rajasthan
- An IAF MiG-21 fighter plane crashed near Hanumangarh in Rajasthan. The plane took off from Suratgarh. According to the most recent information, two civilian women and a man were killed when the jet crashed on their house in Hanumangharh’s Bahlolnagar area.
- The pilot of the plane is safe, according to District Collector Rukmani Riar. Over 2,000 people have gathered at the crash site, and police and administration are attempting to keep the peace.
- Following the tragic occurrence, a rescue mission has been launched to recover any survivors and assist those affected. Rescue crews are working hard to secure the safety and well-being of anyone who may be trapped in the wreckage.
- Earlier this month, one pilot was killed when two IAF fighter jets, a Sukhoi Su-30 and a Mirage 2000, collided during a training exercise in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur. While one plane crashed in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, the other crashed and landed in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

- “Initial aerial survey of the site of the incident was undertaken. Contact has been established with National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) and a local diving team undertaking a search in the area,” the statement read.

- Kyrgyzstan, a majority-Muslim country of nearly seven million people, hosts a Russian military base made up of an airfield, a naval installation on Lake Issyk-Kul, and several other sites.
- Russia and Kyrgyzstan, an ex-Soviet republic, are linked through a Moscow-led military alliance, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
IAF Working On Phasing Out Remaining Three Squadrons Of MiG-21 Jets
- The crash of a MiG-21 jet in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh has once again put the spotlight on the Indian Air Force’s ageing fleet of Soviet-origin aircraft which have been involved in around 400 accidents since their first induction in the early 1960s.
- Three people were killed after the MiG-21 fighter aircraft crashed into a house in Hanumangarh in Rajasthan shortly after it took off for a routine training sortie from the Air Force Station at Suratgarh.
- The MiG-21s used to be the mainstay of the IAF for a long period of time. After its induction in the early 1960s, the IAF procured over 870 MiG-21 fighters to boost its overall combat prowess.
- At present, the IAF has three MiG-21 squadrons with a total of around 50 aircraft, according to officials. The IAF last year finalized a timeline of three years to phase out the remaining Mig-21 fighter squadrons.
- The IAF also plans to start the phasing out of the three squadrons of Mig-29 fighter jets in the next five years, they said.
