At the opening night of his Aura India Tour in New Delhi, Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh took a pause from the stage lights and crowd energy to recognise the personnel guarding the venue. The show, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday, saw him salute security forces and bring a woman Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer on stage in a moment that quickly drew attention online.
Dosanjh’s tribute on stage
Dosanjh asked the audience to applaud the personnel on duty and said, “If you are not here, we wouldn’t feel safe.” He then invited the woman officer to the stage, placed his hand on her head and told her that she reminded him of his mother.
He said, “I get to meet my mother once or twice a year. But when you were standing there, I thought my mother was standing there.” The singer also recalled a call from his mother earlier in the day, saying, “Today my mother called me. She said, ‘Take care of yourself.’ I said, ‘Good things will happen, don’t worry.’ Looking at you today, I thought it was my mother who was standing with me.”
Videos of the moment circulate widely
Clips of the interaction circulated widely after the concert. The moment received applause from the audience, and some reports said Dosanjh also hugged the officer. The tribute was shared as an acknowledgment of the CRPF and Delhi Police personnel deployed for security at the event.
Opening night of the Aura India Tour
The Delhi concert marked the beginning of Dosanjh’s seven-city Aura India Tour. According to the report, the performance was delayed by rain and logistical issues before starting around 7:40 pm. The show featured high-energy staging, with hits, pyrotechnics, lasers and a drone show.
