Draganfly Secures Significant Contract for Commander 3XL Drones in Asia Pacific Military Operations

A significant contract has been secured by Draganfly, a Canadian unmanned aerial systems company, to supply its advanced Commander 3XL drones to a military customer in the Asia Pacific region. The order, executed through a recognized defense contractor, includes state-of-the-art features such as a secure AES 256 encrypted communication link, a rugged ground control station, and a range of adaptable payload options aimed at enhancing intelligence, surveillance, and logistical operations.

Details regarding the specifics of the user or the terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, as they fall under regulatory and contractual limitations. However, the contract allows for additional phases, indicating that the military recipient will continue to evaluate the drone technology for possible further integration into its operational units.

Cameron Chell, the CEO of Draganfly, expressed pride in the contract, calling it a strong endorsement of the Commander 3XL platform and highlighting the company’s expanding role in global defense operations. He noted that Draganfly’s dedicated team collaborated closely with its partner to address the defense department’s stringent requirements, emphasizing the company’s capability in meeting delivery timelines, compliance measures, export regulations, and volume expectations.

This contract follows a previous achievement by Draganfly in July 2025 when the company secured an award to deliver Commander 3XL drones for a major branch of the U.S. Department of Defense, further establishing its reputation in the defense sector.

The Commander 3XL drone is specifically designed for heavy-lift and rapid deployment tasks, offering a notable payload capacity of 10 kilograms (22 pounds). Its modular design allows for versatility in the tools it can carry, accommodating an array of equipment such as optical and thermal cameras, surveillance systems, or mapping devices.

Built to withstand diverse weather conditions, the drone features rotors capable of operating in light rain or snow and is equipped with foldable arms to facilitate transport. The aircraft achieves impressive performance metrics, reaching speeds of up to 38 knots (70 kilometers/44 miles per hour), flying altitudes of up to 2,438 meters (7,999 feet), and maintaining flight for approximately 50 minutes. Depending on the configuration of antennas and accessories, it can cover distances exceeding 10 kilometers (6 miles), making it a formidable asset for military applications.
