Indian Air Force conducts a nation wide common entrance exam named AFCAT (AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST) for the induction of young willing eligible and capable youth as commissioned officers. Through AFCAT you can apply for all the three branches of the IAF which are Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branches. The eligibility criteria for different branches vary. Both men and women can apply for all the three branches. Out of these three branches, Technical Branch is specially for BE/Btech graduates, to get selected in thi candidates who are writing AFCAT has to write one more exam named EKT (ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE TEST).

Engineering Knowledge Test EKT is a common test aimed at testing the Basic Engineering knowledge of the candidates applied for Technical Branch. Candidates who are applying for AFCAT 2 2016 and opting for technical branch have to write 30 mins EKT exam right after 2 hours AFCAT exam. One has to select between computer or electrical & electronics and Mechanical, based on your selection of EKT subject you will get the EKT questions.

EKT 2 2016 Notification and Exam Date [Expected]

EKT 2 2016 Notification will come with AFCAT 2 2016 notification and is expected to be released in June 2016 and the written exam of EKT 2 2016 is expected to  to be held on the last week of Sep 2016 along with AFCAT 2 2016 exam. The results for AFCAT EKT 2 2016 can be expected by November/December 2016. SSBCracK Exams will release notification as soon as the IAF release it officially.

Eligibility Criteria for EKT 2 2016 Exam

• Age: 18-28 year.
• Indian citizen
• Secured 60% (till B.Tech/B.E. degree) all paper put together
• Minimum height for men 157.5 cm and for women 152cms with correlated weight (as per BMI).

EKT 2 2016 Exam Pattern

EKT tests the basic knowledge of candidates applying for Aeronautical Engineering Courses. EKT is grounded at pre final year knowledge level. EKT has two parts namely

Part-A : General Engineering (40 questions)

Part-B : Specialised Paper (35 questions)

General engineering part is based on the topics that are common to multiple branches of engineering. Whereas, specialised part is based on the knowledge of the discipline of the candidate’s degree.  These disciplines are Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering and Computer Engineering.

EKT Exam Marking Scheme

EKT question paper consists of 50 questions with 3 marks for every correct answer and -1 for every wrong answer. Maximum marks in EKT exam are 150 marks. As we have already mentioned there is a negative marking scheme in EKT exam and no sectional cut off in AFCAT and EKT like CDS Exam. Total time given for EKT exam is 45 mins, EKT exam is conducted just after the AFCAT written exam only for those who apply for Indian Air Force Technical Branch.
