Embraer Opens New Office in New Delhi to Expand Presence in India's Defense and Aerospace Sectors

In a significant development for the defense and aerospace sectors in India, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has inaugurated a new office in Aerocity, New Delhi. This facility is set to act as Embraer’s primary base in India, where it will oversee operations in engineering, supply chain, and procurement, while also aligning with national initiatives aimed at fostering a self-reliant industry.

The office opening was notable for its distinguished attendees, including Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, Defence Minister Jose Mucio, India’s Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, and Brazil’s Ambassador to India, Kenneth Felix Haczynski da Nobrega.

Francisco Gomes Neto, Embraer’s CEO and president, emphasized the significance of this new office, stating it symbolizes the strengthening aerospace and defense collaboration between India and Brazil. He articulated the intention behind expanding the company’s presence in India, expressing hopes for enhanced coordination with various stakeholders, customers, and policymakers. This move, he noted, supports local innovation and manufacturing in accordance with India’s defense strategy and its overarching ambition to become a global aviation hub.

“The opening of our New Delhi corporate office marks a bold new chapter for Embraer in India — a market central to our global vision,” Neto remarked. He highlighted that this office will encompass all the company’s business units, thereby enhancing collaboration with partners, customers, and suppliers.

Embraer’s relationship with India dates back nearly two decades, commencing in 2005 with the introduction of the E-Jets, which significantly advanced regional air travel in the country. Currently, around 50 Embraer aircraft are operational in India, catering to military needs, government agencies, business jet operators, and commercial airline Star Air.

In the military sector, Embraer is set to equip the Indian Air Force with an early warning aircraft based on its ERJ145 platform. Additionally, the Legacy 600 model is being utilized for VIP transport by both the Indian Air Force and the Border Security Force.

The company is also investigating new project opportunities in India. Among these initiatives, Embraer is looking into air taxi services in metropolitan areas such as Bangalore, through its subsidiary Eve Air Mobility. Collaborations with local partners, including JetSetGo and Hunch Mobility, are underway to develop air traffic systems aimed at future electric flights.

This latest endeavor underscores Embraer’s strategic commitment to tapping into the burgeoning aerospace landscape in India, paving the way for future growth in collaboration, innovation, and technology advancement.
