Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer is actively promoting its KC-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft at the 2025 International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce, Poland. The company’s participation underscores its commitment to establishing a comprehensive European network that encompasses training, maintenance, repair, and research and development. This initiative aims to ensure that KC-390s in the region remain mission-ready and compatible with NATO standards.
Embraer’s efforts align closely with Poland’s strategic goals to modernize its air mobility capabilities, allowing its forces to transport troops and equipment efficiently while ensuring seamless interoperability with allied nations. The KC-390 has garnered international attention, having been adopted by 11 air forces globally, which include seven NATO member nations and eight European countries. The aircraft began operations with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019 and saw subsequent service entries in Portugal in 2023 and Hungary in 2024.
The performance metrics of the KC-390 are impressive, with deployment records indicating a mission capability rate of 93 percent and a mission completion rate exceeding 99 percent. These statistics underscore the aircraft’s reliability and effectiveness as a support platform for military operations.
This year’s MSPO marks Embraer’s inaugural participation in the event. Bosco da Costa Jr., President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, emphasized that the company’s presence reflects a commitment to building partnerships within the Polish defense sector. He believes that the KC-390 Millennium could play a pivotal role in enhancing regional military capabilities and NATO interoperability.
“This prestigious event represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite us with our Polish partners,” da Costa remarked, highlighting Poland’s significant aerospace heritage and its essential role as a NATO ally.
The KC-390 Millennium itself is a remarkable aircraft, measuring 35 meters (115 feet) in length and boasting a fuel capacity of up to 35,000 kilograms (77,162 pounds). It has a payload capacity of 26,000 kilograms (57,320 pounds) or can transport up to 80 personnel, making it versatile for various transport missions. The aircraft is powered by two IAE V2500-E5 turbofans and is customizable with options for an electronic warfare suite, self-protection systems, and countermeasures against airborne missiles, depending on the specific needs of users.
In terms of performance, the KC-390 is capable of speeds exceeding 500 knots (926 kilometers/575 miles per hour), operates at altitudes up to 11,000 meters (36,089 feet), and has a range of 4,570 nautical miles (8,464 kilometers/5,259 miles). As Embraer continues its outreach at MSPO, the company aims to solidify its position within the European defense landscape and contribute to the evolving needs of NATO member states.
