The Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) recently celebrated its 83rd Corps Day, marking over eight decades of distinguished service in upholding the operational readiness and technological capabilities of the Indian Army.
During this significant event, the Eagles fraternity of Surya Command paid tribute to the EME Corps, recognizing its unwavering commitment to precision, innovation, and the indomitable spirit that has defined its history. The Corps has played an essential role in enhancing the Army’s combat capabilities and driving technological advancements.
Major General Suresh S, the current head of the EME, led a commemorative event by laying a wreath at the Smritika War Memorial in Lucknow, paying homage to the brave soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Following the solemn ceremony, he engaged in meaningful discussions with both veterans and currently serving EME personnel, highlighting the strong sense of camaraderie and the enduring bonds that transcend generations within the Corps.
In his address, Maj Gen Suresh emphasized the Corps’ devotion to its motto, “Karam Hi Dharma” (Work is Worship), reinforcing the significance of innovation and self-reliance in maintaining the Army’s technological superiority.
For more than 80 years, the EME has served as a cornerstone for the Indian Army’s operational efficiency, handling everything from battlefield recovery to equipment maintenance and the modernization of advanced systems. The Corps is committed to ensuring that every vehicle, machine, and weapon is ready for deployment when needed.
As the EME enters its 83rd year with the theme “83 Years of Brilliance in Bolt, Circuit & Courage,” the celebration serves as a testament to its legacy of technical excellence, bravery, and commitment to fostering a self-reliant and future-ready Indian Army.
