Germany Orders Four Training Vessels from Fassmer for Navy

Germany has recently finalized a contract with Fassmer for the construction and delivery of four new training vessels for the German Navy. This initiative is part of the broader Sea-Based Training and Sea Trials (modified) project, underscoring the country’s commitment to enhancing its naval training capabilities. The first of these vessels is expected to be delivered by the end of 2028.

The new training vessels will play a crucial role in forming the backbone of survival-at-sea courses and nautical instruction, providing essential educational opportunities for naval personnel. These platforms will focus on imparting vital maritime skills, including navigation, seamanship, ship handling, stability assessment, and safety management.

Fassmer has a proven track record in this area, having previously supplied two training boats to the German Armed Forces Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons (WTD 71). The new contract builds on this success, demonstrating confidence in the operational utility of the vessels previously delivered.

Harald Fassmer, Managing Director of Fassmer, expressed pride in securing the renewed contract, emphasizing the team’s capability and the appreciation for punctual delivery, budget compliance, and high-quality construction of the previous SV-Kรผste units. He highlighted the company’s commitment to contributing to the advanced training needs of the German Navy with the addition of these four new boats.
