Hanwha Aerospace has introduced the Korea New Infantry Fighting Vehicle (K-NIFV), a cutting-edge tracked platform designed to enhance military capabilities in modern warfare, particularly in countering drone threats and operating within contested electromagnetic environments. The unveiling took place at the Seoul ADEX 2025, showcasing the latest advancements in military vehicle technology.
The K-NIFV draws inspiration from the established Redback design, but it incorporates significant modifications, most notably the transition from a manned turret to an unmanned system. This innovative change not only boosts crew protection but also optimizes interior space, allowing for the accommodation of an eight-soldier team. The reconfiguration aims to provide greater operational efficiency and safety for personnel operating in hostile environments.
Equipped with a versatile modular turret, the K-NIFV features a 30mm cannon as its primary armament, with an option to upgrade to a more powerful 40mm cased-telescoped gun. Additionally, the vehicle includes a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and twin canisters designed to house domestically developed anti-tank guided missiles, enhancing its offensive and defensive capabilities on the battlefield.
