California-based Hidonix Industries has officially transitioned into the defense sector, leveraging its extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics for military and public safety applications. Situated in Santa Monica, the firm will focus on developing dual-use deep technologies that cater to defense operators, security agencies, and emergency responders operating in complex and often volatile environments.
The newly repositioned strategy aims to provide solutions that enable users to make well-informed decisions, maintain situational awareness, and effectively manage operations in time-sensitive scenarios where precision is paramount. “Hidonix is a defense company because that’s where our technology delivers the greatest impact,” remarked Achille De Pasquale, CEO and founder of Hidonix. “We solve challenging problems in dynamic environments where information is incomplete, and decisions matter.”
Founded in 2020, Hidonix initially made its mark with spatial intelligence systems used in various settings, including museums, hospitals, and convention centers. The company’s flagship platform, ION, integrates machine vision, navigation software, and sensor data to create detailed maps of both indoor and outdoor spaces while tracking movement patterns.
A key feature of Hidonix’s offering is its commitment to ‘human-in-the-loop’ decision-making. This approach allows operators to remain actively involved in critical decisions while benefiting from AI-driven analysis and real-time data. This synergistic model ensures that human judgment is complemented by advanced technology, enhancing operational outcomes.
In addition to its existing solutions, Hidonix is developing an unmanned ground vehicle named the Hido II Rover, intended for use in contested or difficult-to-access terrains. The mobile robotic platform is equipped with a stable imaging system and a sensor suite, enabling it to navigate complex environments such as stairs and rough landscapes.
Alex Potts, head of product management at Hidonix, emphasized the firm’s commitment to rapid innovation. “Our ability to quickly integrate cutting-edge technology into deployable products is essential for addressing today’s evolving safety and security challenges,” he noted. “By shortening the path from innovation to real-world deployment, we can tackle emerging threats effectively and ensure that operators have reliable, mission-ready tools when timing and precision are critical.”
Through this strategic pivot, Hidonix positions itself at the forefront of technological solutions for defense and public safety, illustrating a multifaceted approach to modern challenges faced in these sectors.
